Me too! But please, Ian, make this right first time.

Tanks cars ride on 100 ton heavy duty trucks with 36" wheels and have double shelf type couplers.
There should be good drawings and photos of these available on the 'Net. Otherwise you can venture out to the nearest yard and ask for permission to take some photos and measurements yourself.

I would go with that, plus I dont like going into exterior view and constantly going back into the cab changing lights with switches then going back to 3rd person. I rather would change it from the outside.

getting closer

it is on 100 ton trucks with 36" wheels. the picture shows the trucks all shaded out because its in realistic mode which shades darker so You cant even see it. I will post a pic of the trucks tonight.

These look great Ian!

Would you consider releasing a 'plain' matte black set of cans, similar to many of the Tank-Train sets that SP had?

So far so good, now the double shelf couplers.

I presume getting the connecting hoses behave like they should will be a major PITA, I doubt it can be done as there seem to be no realistic electric cables or pneumatic control lines that connect on any locomotive lashed up into a m.u. consist either.
European articulated passenger stock has those bellows between the carriages. I must take a real close look into these to see how they move in-game and how this is implemented.

For the Tank Train, I am thinking along the idea of having the hoses as child objects to the double shelf couplers, so you can have them 'connect' automatically when the cars are coupled. Either by switching of shape file or by toggling the node (that needs a script, right? Plus they'll swivel a little with the couplers and will do so independently of the tank itself (do they?). There will probably some visible 'play' in the attachments to the tank, but that is a better compromise than having not connected fixed half hoses stick out from the end of each car.
