Consist Creator Crashing

Unread postby RailManStan » Sun Aug 16, 2015 5:18 pm

In the years I've been playing this game If there was a problem I could always find the solution, but this one has had me stumped and very aggravated for some time now! !*don-know!* My consist editor will load fine, but the moment I select a piece of rolling stick the whole thing freezes and gives me the "system temp dump or whatever" !*not-ok*! This problem showed up out of the blue, I went trough all of my assets, trial and error to see if one of my rolling stock items was causing the problem, but no matter what I removed it would still crash. I eventually broke down and reinstalled the game, But that still did not fix the problem! I've looked on a lot of forums, and have gotten a lot of advice, but still the solution has yet to come up. shm, its a shame DTG cant even help because all we get from them is an automated email. Any one who can help please!

I would start out by running Logmate and see what's causing the crash.

I have no solution, but I have been experiencing the same problem. It seems that once the train is set in it's starting position and the Scenario saved, any attempt to move it causes the dump screen of death. I even attempted to clone the scenario and move the player train to another spot, with the same result.

I just tried this on several routes and it did not crash me. What route are you trying it on Jerry? Donnor Pass and Marias Pass worked ok for me. What engine are you using?

Route: NS Coal District (or as I like to call it, the Conrail Coal District).

Locomotives: U30C, GAR coal hoppers.

I should clarify, any attempt to move the train using the mouse, selecting the entire consist, Scenario Editor causes failure. The train moves just fine once in the actual game.

Sorry can't duplicate the problem. Buzz tried also with VRC engines and could not reproduce it either.

I have the same random crash problems. Pretty much exactly the same. Sometimes, if I select a piece of rolling stock from the menu in the editor, the game instantly dumps. As the OP states though, the loco/consist works fine once you get one in a scenario. DTG has borked the heck out of TS2016 IMO. I'm dealing with way too many crashes. There is a slight chance it could be a video driver issue too. I'm not sure yet. I have issues in Warthunder ( I love driving the tanks and blowing up noobs) where I get errors that my video cards are running out of memory resulting in black screens much like TS2016 does to me.

Are you running an nVidia based GPU by chance?

I an running a NVidia GPU and am having none of these issues. Running a driver from back on the 34* era and is totally stable. Had trouble with the newer ones. This might be your issue.

The oldest one on their site is a 347.xx. I'll give that one a shot and see if the lockups clear up. !!*ok*!!

When there are many crashing problems you have to ask yourself if it is only the game or other apps as well. I have had issues that have been fixed going to the previous state before the last windows update (windows repair).
As for the graphics drivers, why don´t you go straight for Nvidia site, enter your card specs and download from there. Forget the card manufacturer.
Another way to fix issues is uninstalling your current nvidia drivers, restart in vga mode and then installing the newly downloaded drivers.
I keep my drivers current but I am not a psycho driver searcher. I check them every other month. !!howdy!!

If you are looking for older drivers go here.

http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us

On the main driver page there is a choice of betas and older drivers. Tell it you only want certified drivers. That list includes the one I am using. I personally have had more problems with driver updates than almost any other computer feature so I don't change them very often unless I have a reason.
