TS 2016 Route Loading Screen

Unread postby Rich_S » Fri Sep 18, 2015 3:44 pm

Tried the search feature with no joy. Is there an issue with the route loading screen in TS 2016? When I select a scenario, does not seem to matter which type of scenario, or when selecting the scenario editor I get a black screen until the route is loaded. It does not matter if my setting is full screen or windowed, Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

You're not alone. I had the same problem yesterday after I got the update. I had thought that it crashed, but then the route loaded.

Same here, Mine did it as well and at first I thought "Oh no, now I can't even play the game" and I kept closing the Game. Then, I finally waited it out and the route loaded just fine. I'll admit, it took a little patience and a few tries for me to realize it wasn't the game that was broken, it was my patience. !*roll-laugh*! !DUH!

I should add that mine still has a black loading screen but everything loads up just fine. !!*ok*!!

Generally, I think the menu's are slow. Slower than previously, even on my powerful gaming desktop.

I was informed from one far greater at delving into these things (Antwerp) that unless you purchase 2016 this is what you will see when loading scenarios. How the he%$ you are supposed to know if it's loading or the game is frozen who know since the moving bar across the bottom is gone. I have a IOBIT performance monitor that shows me CPU usage and if it drops down real low I know the game is fubar but other than something like that we will be in the dark unless we buy. !*not-ok*!

As I already wrote in another thread that included this "issue" [how many will there be before the madness ends? Tune in tomorrow!], I'm perfectly content with the black screen instead of a endless loop of DLC ads that undoubtedly delayed the scenario loading process. As for not knowing the difference between loading and crashing, get yourself a copy of Fraps or something similar: then you can contentedly watch the numbers change, move them around the screen corners, etc. More fun than salesmanship any day!

So this is the stupid interface "feature" missing from the non purchased version? If so, then I may have a remedy...

I did some digging, and yeah. You have to buy TS2016 for a loading screen... WTF??? !*not-ok*!

According to posts on the TS Steam forum, you can get the loading screen back by using the RSSlideshow.swf file from backup, located in the Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\data\scaleform folder. The 2016 file may be corrupted and I'm sure not intentional. If you didn't make a backup, then you'll need to wait for an update from DTG.

However, I would like to see the return of using custom loading route screens like we had prior to the 2013 update. *!rolleyes!*

How so, if you already own most of the routes, and don't want any you don't own? Wouldn't you be paying a lot for a nice engine and loading screens?

It will drop to 85% off during Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am still questioning what the steam "DLC" TS2016 Menu Overlay exactly is; if i uninstall it, what happens?
