E8 Reskin Problem

Unread postby Peter749 » Mon Aug 17, 2015 6:59 am

Hello,

Having downloaded the BritKits E8 Repainting Kit
http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/d ... 8:britkits
And I purchased the E8 from Richard as it's nice in UP livery.
I then downloaded the E8-BN1 Reskin of the loco in to Burlington Northern for the new Chicago - Aurora route.
http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/d ... e-repaints
But having installed the RWP file and copied that Geopcdx file I cannot get the loco to appear in the game.
No problem with the version which comes with the S04 pack or the UP version.

I have Britkits and Kuju/Rail Simulator US both ticked so I'm not sure what might be wrong?

Any thoughts?

I'm not sure if the Files in the BN1 folder are correct - the structure seems different to the other folders.

I noticed in the Readme -
Problems or Comments?
Please either drop a message in the Broadway Limited Locomotive Works section of the Railworks America forum

I will give that a go.

guys,

I've been quite busy as of late and only just stumbled onto this. lemme ask some questions:

Has anyone tried the Virginian and Ohio repaint too? Does it work properly? I never see any screenshots of these units running to know if anyone is even using them. This unit should clone the same four files from the Britkits freeware E8 as the BN repaint would:

- E8A-ndb-RW3.GeoPcDx
- E8-HL-Upper-s.GeoPcDx
- E8-horn-2ch.GeoPcDx
- E8-pilot-frt.GeoPcDx

The cab I aliased to the RW3? (Default back then, but now a separate entity included with the US Assets pack), EMD F7 for better operation.

Can someone go directly into either the BN1 folder, or the VandO folder and crosscheck to make sure that those four files were copied into the folders properly?

Thanks guys

Thomas the E8-HL-Upper, horn and pilot are in the fittings folder, not the engine folder. Is that where they are supposed to be?

Buzz,

The location you have those sounds right. only other conclusion I can come up with is that there is a problem with texture references, although there shouldn't be (Anymore nothing surprises me...). I double checked my release copy, however I was unable to replicate the mentioned problem. !!**sorry**!!

I have them both working, the VandO without issue, the BN1 one by taking my CnO one and changing the bin file and sticking the BN1 textures in there. Still not sure what the problem was with the initial D/L.

Hi,

One of the chaps on UKTS, gptech, found a slight problem.
The 3 .bin files in the ..\Britkits\EMD\RailVehicles\Diesel\E8\BN1\Fittings folder:

E8-HL-Upper-s.bin
E8-horn-2ch.bin
E8-pilot-frt.bin

all point to:

..\<GeometryID d:type="cDeltaString">Britkits\EMD\RailVehicles\Diesel\E8\VandO\Fittings\</GeometryID>

for their respective .GeoPcDx files.
As that particular loco isn't in the two packs you download you're bound to have problems.

Yes when I remade mine I had to change the 'fittings' bin folders to reflect the change from CandO to BN1.

Guys,

Following some examination of the engines in question, I decided to dig in and rework them a bit. The new package will have two versions of the units: A Basic version, which will utilize the stock Britkits E8, and an advanced version for those with the Payware version. Changes include some overhauling of the artwork, corrections in the bin files for the fittings to release the units of the dependency issues, revisions to the batch files, several custom HEP details being worked on currently, and a much-needed Beacon light. I hope to have the revisions completed, repackaged and up sometime soon. This set will replace the existing BN1 repaints.
