So, the Answer your question is, Yes, they will use Hoboken as a terminus, And more than likely, Penn Station as well, though I honestly, have no official confirmation of that. I just can't see them not including Penn Station, as it is one of the Main Starting points, if not the most direct way of getting to Bay Head, which you may, or may not know, is the Southern most terminus of the NJCL.

I've studied the Wikipedia. NJT's NJ Coast Line is complicated, with many branches and connections. Given that most recent DLC routes were short, like 1 hours drive, one should expect the same more or less.

We'll have to wait and see, when more information becomes available, like a tracks schematic.

Forgot that OI-16 runs on a small portion of this line from WOOD to ESSAY....NS SD45-2s or CSX SD40s usually power this....as for the length, it takes about 1 1/2 to 2 hours if you make all stops.

I was watching the TS2016 advanced preview and won the 50s Riviera route on my birthday today. NJCL preview is tomorrow here: http://www.twitch.tv/dovetailgames

They only have pictures of an ALP-45DP with Comet IV coaches and a Comet V cab car. I am waiting for news on Comet V trailers, ALP-46s, and Multilevel cars.

This is actually mostly New Jersey, really.. the route, however does originate out of New York Penn Station , and Hoboken, New Jersey. And as for why? You're in the wrong place to ask that. And why not.. is the question. But with many, like myself, who have feverishly requested anything NJT, this is a victory. And possibly just a taste of what's to come. Besides, New York, like other major areas of the US, has a lot to offer, when it comes to railroading. Especially when it comes to passenger rail. The busiest, if not the most important rail network in the entire country.

In addition to that, it's not like there's a huge abundance of New York Based routes, or route that originate from New York. So far, there's just two of them. AND, there's a plethora of routes that could spawn keep anyone who is interested in anything out of the New York tristate region.

Three routes all popping out of the same station sounds like a lot to me. Maybe I'm just surprised or even a bit upset that DTG has gone back to the same places over and over again while ignoring other important locations which have plenty of operating potential. (e.g. Washington DC). I do think that this route was a good move on Dovetail's part though as people seem to go insane over routes in the NYC area; the product will sell like hotcakes. Not to mention that Penn Station is pretty cool. !!*ok*!!

First off, Congrats on the win, and Happy Birthday to you, sir!

Didn't expect they'd have a preview so soon. But maybe this will mean that the route isn't actually too far off. Have noticed that they have been coming in quicker succession these days after they're announced. I remember the last route that was based around New York (The NEC: NYNH), took close to two months being released after it was announced. Guessing that maybe DTG has gotten into the habit of waiting closer to release date schedules, which is totally fine, as it helps to ease the anticipation of DLC releases, significantly. Also, it would be awesome if that at some point, they would upgrade NEC: NY-PHI to the same standard as the NYNH and this upcoming, as these routes are surely making it look extremely bland/dated.

I get it.. I'd also love to see a route from Washington DC as well.. Preferably the NEC line to Philly, because I'd like to see it in this sim, and I really enjoyed playing it on MSTS (At least revised version). But other routes from there are of course welcomed. Penn Station is cool. IRL, it's such a sad history behind it, because the original Penn station, was beautiful. The tragic demolition is why we have the LPA.. and why Grand Central Terminal is still up, and remain that way for as long as it can.

Not the first time DTG have done afew different routes going to the same station. Carlisle Station has been used 4 times with 4 different routes.

Three of those weren't actual DTG routes, I think you'll find. :D

Anyway. There are two assumptions being made here:
i) The NJT route includes the section all the way to Penn, and
ii) That if it were to go there the new route wasn't hung off the original NEC route (which I believe already includes most of the relevant trackwork and scenery already)?

The logical decision from a financial perspective would be to re-use as much as possible from the original NEC route, assuming Penn is included, surely? Seems like a complete waste of time and money to re-invent the wheel in this case, particularly given DTG's reputation for short-changing their customers. *!rolleyes!*

I guess we'll have to watch the Twitch stream on Friday to find out for sure. *!!wink!!*

Cheers

This is a very exciting development. I had been waiting for a NJT for 2 years so, I decided to build it myself and have built the enough of the Port Jervis Line from Highland Mills, NY that I am but 5 track miles from Hoboken and 6 with scenery. I never thought they were going to do it and I am shocked.

You can read more here about the NY Division-Bergen Line: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=13875
I will not be convinced until I see their model of Hoboken Terminal - which is a huge obstacle to over come. How will DTG model Hoboken? This is a very dense urban area. I am sure it will be awesome.

I am sure Hoboken will look stunning. I am betting that DTG will use efficient building methods to keep framerates high in the dense area. I also took note of the DLW catenary gantries used in the area. Based on seeing it I am also hoping for better looking models of the PRR ganties used between South Amboy and the North River Tunnels portals. I am also guessing the section from South Amboy to Matawan will also have unique catenary assets, while the latter southbound will have ones similar to the British masts with the constant tension wires introduced with the GEML. Living close to the NJCL I have sky high expectations for the route.

Your quite right 3 of them were from the master route builder KRoss.

Just had a look at the engine driver article and I'm buying this the day it's released.

After reading the Engine Driver article, I'm most excited for the hint that additional NJTransit stock will come later. I have to believe this means an ALP-46 and multilevels, especially since we're getting an ALP-45DP and comet coaches now. I doubt DTG would invest time and energy into making Arrow units. I can't wait for NJCL to come out. I do hope that the route captures the 'feel' of seaside New Jersey.
