That badly-written ED article has caused more confusion than you can imagine! The TS2016 upgrade will be handled in exactly the same way as the TS2015 upgrade - the core code changes will be free to existing users (of TS2015). It's only the extra content (the routes and locos packaged with the TS2016 edition) that you don't get unless you pay for them (obviously).

AND it has nothing to do with the new UE4 engine they are working with.

Have they mentioned if UE4 will utilize hyperthreading or not? I'll be curious to see if it does and how much of a performance increase it'll add compared to a non hyperthread cpu.

Off topic. It is fine if you want to talk about this just not here.

Stopped confusing people by posting this in a TS2016 thread as UE4 has nothing to do with it. :D

So is it safe to assume at this point maybe we wont be getting any major core game changes or additions to the scenario/route/editor? I mean new features etc...Seem like this update is merely DLC additions and probably some cosmetics. By now I would expect a small list of upcoming new features and additions right?

The Brits are generally pleased with the prospect of getting a period steam era route. Those screens do look good!

Now, what is in it for the US and German markets, DTG's other commercial mainstays besides the UK?
German players being discriminate and financially powerful customers, are mostly displeased with DTG's efforts of late.
US players were given some good routes and trains to purchase. What route will that Big Blow run over?

With TS2016' release in about 6 weeks from now, we are getting curious as to what routes and trains are bundled with it.

About new "features" and eradication of persistent bugs, no word yet? What "features" do we still want? Multiplayer?

It will come with Sherman Hill and the big blow and the usual suspects will be bitching about having to pay something for it.

I think when I bought TS2013 Retail Box it came with Sherman Hill. Is this just a release of the same Sherman Hill? If so, Does steam redownload and install over my current one? I guess I should back "all" of it up to be safe.

We all have to wait and see as to what new features and updated routes and trains will be delivered to present players. New routes and trains usually require you to buy the game again.

Here is what I do when a new Railworks 2016 is being released.
I rename the Railworks folder under Steamapps/common into Railworks 2015. Then I have Steam deliver a fresh copy of Railworks (2016) with all my DLC. It takes a while and takes up a lot of HD space, but keeps my old Railworks 2015 intact.
When no errors in Railworks 2016 have been found, I rename the new Railworks folder into Railworks 2016, rename or copy my old Railworks 2015 folder back into Railworks, and have Steam update that to 2016.

So I am left with 3 folders under Steamapps/common: Railworks 2015 as it was before the update, Railworks 2016 fresh like a virgin, and Railworks (which is my 2015 updated to 2016).
When all stays well, you can either remove the 2015 and 2016 folder or archive them. I archive them onto an external HDD.

With the Steam service running, I can still play all of my old Railworkses, back to Railworks 2.

Bitch mode on standby and hair-trigger. *!greengrin!*

But seriously... my expectations for 2016 are so low that I barely care at this point in the game. I'll just upgrade when it's like 80% off. I'm just waiting for their UE4 sim to come out.

Since we've had a peek at what's coming with TS2016, I feel it's a safe bet that we won't see the UE4 version for another year. I'm speculating that once they get closer to having a finished UE4 product that we will see a bit of a drought of DLC from DTG for the existing TS2016 release as they work on content to release with the UE4 one.

EYEIN12, this means you should have some time to release one more loco for TS2015/TS2016 **!!bow!!**
