Note about scenario included with VRC CSX Road Slug Pack

Unread postby OldProf » Tue May 26, 2015 11:41 am

This note only applies to those who have purchased Virtual Rail Creations' CSX Road Slug Pack.

The scenario titled "Detours, Part 4 (AS)" included with this pack cannot be successfully completed as written. The reason is that several pick-up and drop-off instructions include too many cars and thus yield an X rather than a check mark. I have made an edited version of this scenario that fixes this defect, but I'm not sure whether uploading it here would be kosher, since it comes from a payware package.

Perhaps one of the monitors will let me know whether I'm allowed to upload my modified scenario? I would, of course, give full credit to the scenario's original author and to Virtual Rail Creations.

Why don't you just ask Jerry or Dan about that Tom?

Better wait for Jerry or Papa to chime in, that might be pushing the grey area too far.

Okay, okay ... the project is on hold. In case someone else wants to do his own modification, here's a hint: early in the scenario, there's a dipsy-doodle maneuver that results in dropping off three hoppers and picking up six, but the final instruction of that set lists 9 cars to be picked up -- which is not possible. The extra three cars mess up not only that instruction but several more after it that include those 6 picked-up hoppers.

First contestant to repair and successfully run the scenario wins the right to sit tight.

Speaking of this pack, does anyone have the issue in the mother unit that the reverser doesn't work with the keyboard commands? Works by clicking & dragging the reverser and the f4 HUD but cant get it to work with the keyboard.

I'll look at the Slug-Mother reverser and see if I can see what is up with that. Being that the unit is a clone of the others (with added elctrical connections), i'm not sure why it would be suffering this issue.

Thanks! I'll do that. By the way, I also modified the scenario to make the mother unit rather than the slug the driven engine.

The file is on its merry way and should appear in the library within a few days or so.

Please note that Virtual Rail Creations excellent EMD GP40-2 for TS 2015: Mother and Road Slug Pack includes more than one version of this switching scenario, of which I have modified only the Standard, Automatic Start version.

Thanks again to VCR for permission to upload my modification here at Railworks America.

Does the problem happen all the time, or intermittently?

I'm in the habit of using the mouse & F4 HUD controls for the reverser, but I just checked and discovered that keyboard w & s will not move it, even though the manual states that they should. Just to be sure, I quit the scenario and TS, rebooted my computer, and tried again, with the same result.

Is this happening with just the slug, or all VRC models?

Also are we now talking about two separate issues with the reverser or is this just an issue with the w and s keys?

Crud.... then I have been looking at the wrong model!

Do you have any of our other 40's? If so does it happen with any of them?
