Graphical glitch in NERW PA Div route

Unread postby Player701 » Sun Mar 22, 2015 3:51 pm

Hi.

Recently I've started to notice a strange glitch in the North Eastern RailWorks Penn Division route. It seems to be related to moving cars on the roads. These giant black... things (don't even know how to call them - see screenshots below) seem to move along with the cars. However when I move the camera closer they disappear (or they may reappear a bit farther instead). This is particularly noticeable near the Levishton passenger terminal, as there's a road running parallel to it, complete with moving vehicles. I've installed quite a few of routes (mostly freeware ones as suggested here) and other assets so it's quite hard for me to trace the exact cause of this. Maybe someone encountered this previously and knows what might it be? Already tried reinstalling ScaleRoad but this didn't fix anything.

Screenshots can be found here: screenshot one, screenshot two. I did not upload them as attachments because they're quite large and there's no automatic resizing (at least in preview, didn't want to experiment further).

Thank you.

The forum will resize your pictures, they are not too big. As for your glitch, that is a new one on me. In all these years no one has ever reported that. I used to get flashy things in Henderson when I had an AMD video board, switching back to nVidia got rid of it. What you have may be your video board going bad or heating up? It is hard to say. Do you have new drivers for it? Is it a laptop?

I'm totally sure that my graphics card isn't playing tricks on me here, since I haven't spotted anything like this in any other route besides NERW so far. Plus, this glitch is easily reproducible for me because it occurs only on this route, and only in specific places (on the roads where moving cars are present). I can reproduce it each time I start a free-roam scenario (created by myself, as there were no ones bundled - just opened the editor, moved the starting spot where needed and saved) near Levishton. Nevertheless I can tell you that I'm not using a laptop, my graphics card is an Asus GTX 660 and it doesn't heat above 50 degress Celcius while the glitch is being observed.

As for the tip about picture resizing, thank you, I'll keep that in mind.

Well when you come across it, press control e to go to the world editor and delete that loft for the traffic. It is 3D Trains Scale roads traffic. I have a GTX 760 and it runs ok for me. Most of the settings in my nVidia control panel are to let the application control it.

Good Morning:

I seem to be getting the same thing. Only with the NERW route.

Okay, will try that tomorrow (it's already time to go to bed for me now). It's kind of strange that reinstalling Scale Roads didn't fix it.

Same here. I also noticed this but I thought it was normal, as there are a lot of level crossings and these signs look the same everywhere.

Yeah those whistle posts are from RW2, they did not make the transition to TS 2015 very well or TS 2014 for that matter. I was thinking on revamping it a little, especially with the RCAP stuff to add to it. But been too busy doing the Lafayette route and other stuff.

This is interesting! I have the same issue with the C&O Alleghany at Covington. I also noted that the Sala station by Mazz was semi transparent. I also use the GTX 760, but this did not appear until after the 50.x update. Mine shows 90 deg to the track but parallel to the road (down center).

Hi, Bob. I tried entering the World Editor to delete the lofts (I was in Wade at the time) and the artifact disappeared as I was approaching it so I'm not quite sure how to delete it. Here are my specs:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alienware 17 Laptop
i7-4710MQ 2.5 GHz
16GB DDR3
GTX 860M w 2GB DDR5
Crucial 1TB SSD
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is what it looks like for me:

The AI traffic is laid on top of the road. Move the cursor while in the editor over the road and you will see a yellow ribbon, click it and delete it. The hard part here is getting the ribbon for the ai traffic loft and not grabbing the road's loft ribbon. If you grab the road, you can raise it up to reveal the traffic ribbon and delete it. then select the road again and hit J to make it go to ground level.

I really have no idea what this could be, I have not seen it on any route, you and jamespph should compare notes since you are both having this on different routes, and routes that are very old.

In my case I have been finishing my clone of the C&O Alleghany beta 5. I had been doing scenic work east of Covington after installing TS 2015 with no problems at Covington. After an unexpected installation of update 50.x I had this artifact on one road in Covington. Originally I thought that it was caused by the Mazz Sala station item and replaced the station with another object. But, it reappeared. Thanks to Artinrj I was able to deleted the traffic loft at that location. In edit mode move the mouse pointer around the road until you see a yellow box on the road. lick on the box and it will turn red. Delete the loft. If you select the road loft and not the traffic loft, use the restore icon and try again. It may only be aspecific traffic loft and not all 3D trains traffic lofts that are the problem as I have not seen this anywhere else in the route. I have not tried the PA Division route since the update. The scenery update in the C&O route is nearing completion. Tree block, track gravel, weeds, etc are near completion in the barren sections of the main line. The GBR sub is also close and the Baur lumber barren branch is being worked on. This is for my use only and will not be released. I do hope that Tori will be able to finish the original.

Sorry, I didn't have time to post here until recently. Well, deleting traffic loft objects removes the glitch... along with the traffic (obviously). I think this can be considered a temporary workaround until a proper solution has been found (if it is ever found, of course). Before I tried removing lofts I had reinstalled Scale Roads again, this time manually deleting the "Assets\3DTrains\ScaleRail\RoadNetwork" folder before reinstalling. And it still didn't change anything... weird.
