Finally got around to updating the Amtrak California Pacific Surfliner EMD F59PHI Physics Mod Pack:
This is the EMD F59PHI Physics Upgrade pack, TS2015 Edition Version 2.0.
The tests seen here were conducted with identical 7 car consists. You will see a noticeable difference between the performance of the 3200 hp locomotive and the 4300 hp locomotive.
In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased the Pacific Surfliner Route Addon avaliable at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/222606/
This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.
THIS IS NOT A SOUND UPGRADE PACK. Physics adjustments made around the existing sounds
The purpose of this pack is to correct some physics errors in the original F59PHI locomotive.
Parameter Change Log: 1. Adjust Braking Effort curve to simulate realism. 3. Adjust amp limits according to EMD specs; Max traction amps = 1550. Max brake amps = 760. 4. Increased weight from 104 tons to a higher weight to simulate fully loaded locomotive and increase adhesion. 5. Decreased fuel capacity from 4800 gallons to 2000 gallons. 6. Increased air brake application and release rates. Original rates are painfully and unrealistically slow.
This pack also includes the option to swap between the 12-710 engine and the 16-710 engine. Specific locomotive parameters: 1. EMD F59PHI original (EMD 12-710G3A-T2; 3200 THP) a. Starting tractive effort of 65,000 lbs (289.1344 kN) b. Dynamic Brake effort of 35,000 lbs (145.64 kN) @ 55 mph c. Wheel horsepower of 2,900 hp (2,400 kW); independent of HEP load d. Increased weight of 120.5 metric tons (265,654.3 lbs) e. Fuel tank capacity of 2,000 gallons f. Maximum speed of 83 mph
2. EMD F59PHI upgrade (EMD 16-710G3C-T3; 4300 THP) a. Starting tractive effort of 68,800 lbs (306.04 kN) up to 21.35 mph b. Dynamic Brake effort of 35,000 lbs (133.446 kN) @ 55 mph c. Wheel horsepower of 3,912.8 hp (2,920 kW); independent of HEP load d. Increased weight of 130.636 metric tons (288,000 lbs) e. Fuel tank capacity of 2,000 gallons f. Maximum speed of 110 mph
IMPORTANT; Install Instructions
1. Open the following directory: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\PacificSurfliner" 2. Then open the "Railworks_F59PHI_Physics_Mod.rar.rar" file. 3. Drag folder from the .rar file into the directory opened in step 1. 4. Overwrite if prompted. 5. The installation should be complete. Run TS2015 to check.
User's Manual: Upon installation, the pack defaults to using the F59PHI (3200 THP) physics. In order to switch physics, follow the steps below:
1. Open the following three directories: a. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\F59PHPack01\RailVehicles\Diesel\F59PH\Simulation" b. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\F59PHPack01\RailVehicles\Diesel\F59PH\Engine" 2. In each of those directories, you will see three folders (one for each set of locomotive physics): a. "F59PHI (3200 THP)" b. "F59PHI (4300 THP)" 3. Once you choose which set of physics to use, open the respective physics folder in all three directories from step 1. 4. Copy (CTRL + C) all files you find in the opened folder located in directory 1a. 5. Proceed back to directory 1a and paste (CTRL + V) the copied files into the directory; overwrite when prompted. 6. Copy (CTRL + C) all files you find in the opened folder located in directory 1b. 7. Proceed back to directory 1b and paste (CTRL + V) the copied files into the directory; overwrite when prompted. 8. If the previous 7 steps were completed properly, the physics swap should be successful; run TS2015 to check.
Thank you for downloading and installing. Enjoy =)
Surfliner trains run in 5 or 6 car consists in normal operations. If high capacity is needed then when over 6 cars they double head power with loco's at both ends, or two up front depending on configuration.
Not sure if this changes your physics settings at all?
Sidenote:
I notice the fuel capacity by default is 4800 gallons on the Phi and PH you have corrected this. However in scenarios from career or workshop the 4800 gallons is still there but when in quick drive or free roam the amount 1800g is correct. Is this correct behavior?

Yea, I know the trains are normally 5-6 cars in length. That doesn't change any of the physics parameters, since you can add and remove cars via the consist editor. Locomotive performance remains tied to how much horsepower you choose to run with, so with a shorter train, you'll accelerate faster and all that good stuff.
Yea, I'm not exactly sure what's up with the scenarios still running with 4800 gallons; that's beyond my expertise.
Mike, there is no download button for your M8 Leslie RS2M & Door Sound Upgrade in the library, I appreciate that Bob is working all hours before Christmas, could you send him a nice message asking him to put it on his 'to do' list, please.
Thanks.
EDIT: I see the download button is also missing off the NS Heritage SD70ACe Physics Mod as well.

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.
I'll let him know, although there is nothing preventing anyone else from doing so haha.
This file is now online, someone downloaded it as soon as it appeared. That amazes me the most, people downloading as soon as I post something. I can imagine seeing 50 people hitting the refresh button Saturday mornings waiting for the new uploads.
Bob Artim - Generation X² I don't have a PHD, I have a DD214... Freedom carries sacrifice I'm crawling in the dark looking for the answer

Thank you Bob, we've all missed you so much, that's why we're all on the button......
