Canadian National RS3

Unread postby CPRailfan34 » Fri Dec 12, 2014 4:17 pm

I recently downloaded the CN RS3 but can't get it to show up in my game, the real question is do i need the payware model? or will the freeware sample model work? I've tried with the Geo files from the Default freeware one but they don't make it show up. can anyone help specify the Geo files required?

Open the engine blueprint with RW-Tools and search for "geometry".
This will give you the path to the shape file.

thanks for the information !!howdy!! , but I unfortunately do not have RW-Tools *!embar*! , and on top of that the read me doesn't really specify what Geo files to copy it just says it needs the original Geo files or the repaint won't work.

I think it needs the payware version.

All liveries that I have and that work with the freeware version use RS3-sl-RW3.GeoPcDx.
The CN repaint uses RS3-dlh-RW3.GeoPxDx.

thanks for the reply !!howdy!! , looks like i'm gonna have to scrap this repaint for now till I get the payware model, which will not be likely. *!sad!* oh well, thanks for answering my question.

All repaints use an alias model, either a default asset that comes included with the game, a locomotive, or, boxcar, etc, or, a 3rd party asset, which is quite often Payware, repaints/reskins aren't freeware sample models, they require the shape files and cab interior files sometimes to be present for them to appear in your editor, which you can only find in the original model and have to do a copy and paste of files from one folder to another.
It would be best if you have a look at the description of a reskin in future to see what alias model is required, unfortunately, the painter doesn't always give the most helpful of instructions and consider everyone who downloads them as though they've had the game for several years and know exactly what files are needed to get the item to show up in the game, which isn't the case for newcomers to the simulator. Never hesitate to come on here and ask for advice in future, we always want to help newcomers enjoy the fun to be had with the game.

Thanks Ex, !!howdy!! I checked the info page and it says its the britkits model, but i only have the freeware sample RS3 as well as the free russel snowplow and and sample GP32 model from them. I believe I have figure it out that the repaint is based on the payware version of the Model. so I will either wait to buy the model or delete the repaint. thanks for the information and the majority of the repaints I collect from this site work. I just don't have the required model for some.
