Odd Behavior: ScaleRail Pacific Surfliner

Unread postby Bananarama » Sun Oct 26, 2014 4:33 pm

I had a customer email me indicating that his copy of the ScaleRail conversion for the Pacific Surfliner route was missing track a couple miles west of the Norwalk Metrolink station, specifically missing track for the EB Main-2 at the Florence Ave overpass. He sent a screen map of the affected area:

His_Map.jpg

The first thing I noted was that his copy was missing the crossover WB Main-1 to EB Main-2 (first EB to WB is there, however). I searched Google and came up with two more instances of the anomaly, but the only solution was to verify game cache and then reinstall the ScaleRail conversion. No one else has reported the issue and he says his original Surfliner looks fine. FWIW, both my original Surfliner and the conversion show the following:

Is anyone else seeing the same issue? !**conf**!

I had the same issue. I have verified game cache and reinstalled the Scalerail conversion but haven't had the chance to check if it fixed the issue. I will report later when I get a chance to check it.

I ran this whole section tonight and can't find this anomaly. It all is there for me.

Are you saying you are missing the section of track discussed above? I am currently still trying to fix the exact problem but to no avail yet.

yes. I'm missing the whole crossover there. I tried to relay it but nothing will line up correctly.

In the original RSC copy the route contains a corrupted section of track, which can be viewed while in track editing mode and indicated by a red rectangle. This is one of the issues fixed with the ScaleRail update, along with a dozen or more corruptions to the track database and most were caused by the author laying track too far between saves (track tiles mismatch). At this section in the original Surfliner, see if you can actually use the crossover. I can, which shouldn't be possible with a red rectangle present, but nevertheless I can do so without issue. Oh, the joys of Railworks!

The other thing is that section of track is set up as "Yard". I don't know whether that makes a difference or not in scenarios, but is just something I noted in my investigation.

The only thing that comes to mind is to completely remove the two routes via Windows File Manager (00000027-0000-0000-0000-000000002013 and b256a353-e6e9-4e98-a971-ccd2e877bed3). A verify cache will reinstall the route, but you'll be OK on the assets and rolling stock and the download should only take a few minutes. Reinstall the ScaleRail conversion and see how things look.
Cheers!

I'll try it again but I have tried several times already. Do I need to download the update separately? I thought it was compiled into the download already?

Marc, a quick note, when I view the Scalerail Version in editor there is a red triangle above the section of track that is missing. If that helps

Unless otherwise noted, the main files always contain the latest updates. Won't make a difference either way though - it's just a waste of bandwidth.

A triangle indicates that the sim expects a track section to be there, else it would have a bumper. If track is missing and a red triangle is present, then one or more track data files aren't being read.
Cheers!

I get the exact same. When trying to run the Scalerail installer it says Railworks is not found.
