It is a system of railway signalling used in the United Kingdom.

Thanks I was wondering what it was, but did not want to ask for sounding stupid...

I just updated the Tutorial to add the setting of returning the token you do it like so:

To return a token at the end of the trip (Or to change directions and add another token) you use the RETB Radio Override Object (See figure 2.) and use the number 89999 in the properties box.

Since my most recent post has vanished from this thread, I'll repeat the important part of it here and see how long this one lasts: I asked Alan Thompson about using this token system in scenarios and he replied that Thompson Interactive (creators of both the route and this engine), "will be releasing information about the system in a few weeks".

While waiting for Thompson to provide more documentation, I've been venturing out on my own in the form of a shunting scenario. In an earlier message, Robbit wrote, "(Be sure to number your engine 37***210411413 asterisks are replaced with the number outside on the engine ...)" He also described the process of placing markers that initiate or continue token exchanges. Quite by accident, I found that changing a 1 to a 2 (e.g.: 37***210421413 instead of 37***210411413) in the engine's identification number (not its name) starts the token sequence and eventually provides the driver with a shunting token without the need to position any kind of track marker.

Why I can't just hold my horses until official information appears is beyond me. !*don-know!*

Sorry I thought that was implied. The number you use in the engine number acts like the first retb radio override object. to have the token show for example shunt at spean bridge you would use the last 5 numbers as 21616, for fort william it would be 21414 just use the from and to as the same as where the shunt token should read.

Did you happen to look at the tutorial I posted for a more in depth description? http://1drv.ms/1r6JIPX

Robbit: Sorry I managed to miss your implication regarding the initial token exchanges. The tutorial looks great: many thanks. Sometime soon Thomson Interactive's information should become available. In general, I've found most engine features (elaborate start-up sequences, etc.) uninteresting or even annoying, but this token system has really sparked my interest as a scenario maker. The engine includes a lot of other features, as does the route itself; together they make an excellent package.

Thanks, Normally I like to see alot of AI traffic in my scenarios but there is little opportunity on this route for a lot of AI. But the token system makes up for it. I find it very interesting and I think the scenery on this route is superb. I even watched Harry Potter The Chamber of Secrets last night to see where on this route they showed in the movie and it was when Harry and Weasley where chasing the train over Glenfinnan Viaduct.

Here's the link for the RETB instructions from Thompson:

http://www.engine-driver.com/article/sh ... tion-guide

I won't have time to complete my shunting scenario before departing for the States tomorrow morning, but it currently features 3 AI trains, one switching the same yard area as the player engine and two passenger runs.
