Excuse me, but in what sense is this RSC's fault? You bought the simulator and (at least tacitly) agreed to accept updates via Steam; you chose an internet provider; you didn't choose local infrastructure, but that's not RSC's fault, either. I can understand your annoyance (I have to put up with ATT as a provider!), but not your trying to take it out on RSC.

RSC / DTG etc own the software, Steam are just their distribution method - they dont get to determine what is released and when, it is up to the provider. The fact that there was no update to speak of, just 950+ meg of data download cost leaving me in the same position as before I started. Why all of a sudden do it now?
Imagine this - DTG are still using the old hard media distribution, delivered via post. You get a notification to go to the Post Office to collect a parcel from them but it is marked receiver to pay post so you have to pay the postage when you pick it up. Fine, no problems - you go to the post office, pay the hypothetical $25 air freight from the UK, get it home, open it up and the box is empty. The box belongs to DTG, they sent it to you; you cant blame the post system, because if DTG hadn't given them the box there would have been no cost.
I appreciate my internet connection etc is my issue and with that I am judicial about what I download. There was no notification of an update and no chance to decide whether to accept it at the time, or defer to later / back up my install etc. The only way there was anything to download is because DTG had it there, remembering Steam dont generate it, create it or own it; just send it.
