Strange coupling/uncoupling behaviour

Unread postby chrisreb » Mon Oct 06, 2014 3:10 pm

Apologies if this behaviour has already been reported.

Playing a scenario on Cajon Pass called Full Up. Nearly at my first drop off point when 2/3 of consist just uncouples. Reverse back slowly to try to recover it. As I get about a wagon length away the broken part of the consist accelerates toward me like a rocket derailing the whole consist.

Yes it has been reported but I don't think a cause was found.
Try saving the scenario after the consist breaks up, then quit, reload and try coupling again.

Unfortunately that's what I did. Oh well if nothing obvious will see if it happens in other scenarios

There may be a fix in the File Library here. IIRC it was Ericmopar that came up with (or found elsewhere) the fix for the stretching couplers.

I'm stumped by this. The only place I've seen the spontaneous uncoupling problem before, is on Sherman Hill. I just run Brit-Kits couplers there and on Cajon Pass stock.
I've set the coupler bins to my usual settings with no success on Sherman Hill stock. I can get the hard stops in the slack to work and other settings, but they will still break while climbing a grade at a steady speed.
The coupler strength settings are the usual and setting them higher than normal has no effect.
I've wondered if it might be scripted into Sherman on purpose or if there could be some core game issue when Sherman Hill is running. !*don-know!*

I can proudly say, that my coupler settings are my own, although Buzz and others did set me searching in the right direction.
I can say this about the couplers in Train Simulator. Their own wiki is very wrong, when it describes what settings work or don't work anymore.

Noticed and AI consist on Horseshoe Curve today with massively stretched couplings. No sign of any file that I can see so assume that any amendements are currently not published. Looks like that TS2015 may have altered things anyway.

Have you tried BriKit couplers? They seem to work almost everywhere.

Had a search and couldn't find them - can I be a pain and ask for a pointer in the right direction? Been through all my downloads as I thought I had something from Britkits in the past by cannot see it.

I published fix for HSC just this weekend.
It includes couplers and brakes.
