I need to go poke around on some of the RSC stuff where I made changes but this is encouraging so far.

Buzz. I'm guessing from what you are saying, that some of your mods were in "external" folders?
If so check different DLC, by clicking through those file paths and seeing if your modded bins etc are still at the very end...
Or if it was a non .ap DLC click all the way through to bins you've modded in the past, and see if they have a new sept 29.2014 date...

I posted an edit Buzz while you posted...again.

Try a non .ap DLC you modded in the past and see if bins have new sept 29, 14 date.

They do not. Even the new stuff like the F59PHPack01 That it looks like I bought on 9/18 and the .ap says 9/24. The date on the mother folder is 9/30 but it doesn't appear that anything inside has been changed.

Yeah...
My dates are unchanged until I navigate all the way through the "Simulation" folder and look at the bins inside those. Only my hacked bins got found and changed back. Date and Data both.

I appreciate the heads up on this - I'm currently making another fresh backup of the entire Railworks folder...

So...is it possible to completely disengage TS2015 from steam? I'm happy with the current version and do not want any future updates whatsoever. If I were to uninstall steam, and then try to run railworks from my backup folder, would this still work? I've read answers that point in both directions.

You can put your backups in separate folders outside of Steam to protect them, but Steam needs to be fired up first before you can run the exe in the backup.

Block them with a decent firewall. The program will try about five different IP blocks from different providers and then give up and put you in off-line game mode.

I have a folder called dev which I put together for the work on the NERW Lafayette route so I wouldn't get our list of assets Bob set up for us to use so we wouldn't get it mixed up with any payware stuff. It is 2014 complete but in a folder on the same drive as my Steam folder but not in it. In other words it is just directly I:dev It gets no updates has no special rules and starts with the same RailWorks.exe only from that folder as the main one does. Apparently with no Steam\steamapps\common\Railworks in front of it none of the Steam utilities see if or care about it. I suggest that you could try setting one of these up and see if it works for you.

The only things I have that would be updated are the Kuju folder which has no .ap and gets no updates and one RSC item which is the GP38-2 which also has had no updates so I am assuming that Steam doesn't know this game is there.

And to hopefully answer you other question no you can't run both of them at the same time. It gives you the message that the game is already running.

This gets very old and very tiring. If you have to verify the game after every update, what is the point? The updates are suppose to fix problems, not cause more problems and headaches. **!!bang!!**

No such problem on my computer, but I don't keep a lot of 3rd party routes installed. Could it be that assets those routes require have moved to new locations in TS2015?

If they were all freeware routes, I'd say that might be the issue. But one of the routes, that now will not load is the Castle Rock route. Of course, my problems just seem to keep going south. !*hp*! I figured I'd try a verify, Steam found 330 files missing, I though great a update and I'll be back in business. No such luck, the update stopped at 98% and now keeps timing out. I'm not even able to start the game.
So now at this point Train Simulator is 100% unusable **!!bang!!** !*!grrr!*!
