Railworks/Assets/RSC/DonnerPass/DonnerPassAssets.ap
You'll need 7-Zip which is a free program to open it. You will have to associate 7-Zip with the .ap file in your "Deafault Programs" in Windows.
Or right click on the .ap file and then select "Open With". Then navigate to the 7-Zip .exe.

If you expand it into the DonnerPass folder, you'll need to reinstall any external mods that were sitting there before.
New build. i7-7700k, MSI Z270 Gaming M5 Mobo, Hyper 212 Evo, Corsair DDR4 3200 Mhz RAM, Klipsch Pro Mediea 2.1 Speakers, Samsung 850 Evo SSD, HAF XM Case, Asus Strix GTX 1070 and Cooler Master Storm XT Keyboard.
Slick with Pretty Rainbow Colors.

All kidding aside if there is no .ap then there should be a RailVehicles folder. The SD40 should be in there.

Seems like your original installation was incomplete. You should read Bob's reply to you on your original post titled "Steam needs disk".

ok you don't have to install in the ap. but you need the GEO file from the RSC Donner Pass Route Simple. go to http://www.rstools.info/rw_tools.html#RWTv2 and Download RW_tools and install it, open it. Go to file on top scroll down to, find all ap.files then open the ones u want extract to new folder on desk top next add to the file in folders, now go to C: program filesSteam/steamapps/common/RailWorks/Assets/RSC/DonnerPass now you can go to C: program filesSteam/steamapps/common/RailWorks/Assets/RSC/DonnerPass/RailVehicles/Diesel/SD40T-2 and copy n paste sd40T_2_sp.GeoPcDx in to new addon Reskin and install it, your all set! !!bang!!
