how do you reopen it after you've done something? it just disipears.

You have to go back through the process of the editor I believe.

If the scenario markers aren't stacked, you can double click on the appropriate scenario marker* to re-open the scenario pop out.
*You can click on them even if they are stacked, but it is harder to get the correct scenario.
