Feather River Canyon - UP's Canyon Sub

Howdy Railworksfolks.

Today is the day. I'm announcing my first real route project.
It has been a struggle to set up the Terrain and the Markers as you might have noticed from my forum posts.
Today I placed my first decals in the route and so I thought it's time to announce the project.

The Feather River Canyon - UP's Canyon Sub
I could not better describe the route as Aaron Bentsen from 7ideaproductions:
"...In the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern California. Standing high upon a bluff, a deep canyon opens up below us, carving through the granite rock, carpeted in green vegetation.
On it's floor, the North Fork of the Feather River twists and turns as it flows westward to meet Lake Oroville.
Winding along it's banks are two steel rails that for the past 100 years have served as a gateway to the West.
A daily parade of trains make their way through the route, rich in history and beautiful scenery. - Welcome to the Feather River Canyon."

I will cover the entire Canyon between Oroville and Portola which is about 120 miles.
Later the route might be expanded a few miles to Greenville which is a part of BNSF's Gateway Sub, joining the UP Canyon Sub at Keddie on the famous Keddie Wye.

The Feather River Canyon has to offer a great variety of scenery and also of trains.
Actually a UP line (WP before the merger in 1982), there are numerous BNSF trains running through the Canyon via trackage rights.
Untill 2009 the line had been the route for the UP stack trains which now run over Donner Pass.

So enough for today. Updates will follow.

OMG that is great!!! now some questions.
are you going to be bulding your own custom assets for this route?
do you have a "rough" estamate of when you plan to finish it?
are you going to release it in parts or sections? please!

hmmm, maby i should get to learn how to buld real routes? maby the kicking horse pass?

Question 1: As I have totally no idea of assets creation I'll have to rely on default and what all those talented guys have created for the game so far. But as I'll need some specific bridges and landmarks I hope that there are some guys who want to help me (I have two who offers so far).

Question 2: I can't tell when there'll be a release version, but I would roughly say around Christmas 2011.

Question 3: The route will definitely come in parts, but I don't already know how many. As I said in my announcement the BNSF Gateway Sub section which diverges from the Keddie Wye in north direction will come later.
My first target is to complete the UP line between Oroville and Portola. Later I might also include the Quincy Railroad Shortline (as seen in the video link above).

Very nice, Michael! I can´t wait to see the first screenshots! if you need help with scenario design or with route surroundings (placing all the trees, houses, people- the little details that gives "life" to the route, let me know)

But is it possible that two people work on the same route? I don't know. Would be fine.
(How can you combine the efforts if more people work at the same time and so have different versions? )

it is possible, lets say that you get tired after 1 month of work, you can send what you have to whoever is helping, and they continue untill they get tired and then back to you and so on...... the time between people can be anything from 1 day to forever.....

Ask Jim Nobbs and his Trans Pennine Route team of builders, he has (I think) four people working on the route at the same time.

You must work in completely separate areas.

You both can work at the same time, just keep the track the same between versions, and work in separate areas.

Michael, welcome to the route builders club. Trust me when i say this, route building gets in your blood, almost an obsession Good luck with your amazing feather river canyon route. Cant wait for this one.
