What I meant was I think it would be nice if this were done exactly like the Connie but then have a more advanced one seperate that runs with all of the little doo dads you have made for it. Just my preference though. Maybe something for you to consider. I realy like how the Connie is set up , not too simple and not too complex. !!*ok*!!

I did understand you, but again, if you want something intermediate, go for the Advanced version with expert automatic fireman enabled (then you won't need to worry about firing or most of the things that can go wrong), or if that's still too much, the HUD version and choose between expert or simple mode (the last one's really for people who just want to watch the scenery from outside).

Unfortunately, the real loco won't be operating at all this year. Nor 3985. Nor 4014. (as much as everybody thinks it is...)

I wonder what the U.P. Steam Crew would, or is, thinking of this?

I don't know, but they're going to be very busy starting the restoration of 4014. I suppose they just don't have time for anything else. It's a pity, especially as 844 will be celebrating her 70th birthday at the end of this year!

Maybe the sounds on the FEF-3 will give them the incentive they need.

To be honest, I cant see them now expending production time and facilities to put out what would have to be a free update - it is all about income generation and sorry to have to say, but I for one wont ever buy another DTG add on that promises "coming soon" in relation to any feature - they just can not be trusted.

the 800's on the other hand - the money is already spent **!!bow!!**

From the U.P. Steam Crew's own mouths, yesterday in Las Vegas NV.

They have been instructed by "corporate" to put all effort into getting 4014 ready by 2019. However, they are hoping to get a permission to get 844 back on her feet by the end of the year. They don't have official word on that yet, so no promises.
Despite rumors flying around, neither 844 or 3985 will become static displays. I was told both have problems that need to be worked on, but not something like a major overhaul.

They also don't have Chinese made flues or tubing, despite internet gossip. They have high quality German tubing in all of them.

I'm glad to hear that they won't be mothballing (or worse!) either of them. I'm hoping they'll do something to mark 844's 70th anniversary. It would be a shame if they don't.

UP's commitment to maintaining it's heritage fleet seems to be pretty unwavering. I salute them. It's a drop in the bucket for a big company to do this but the bean counters are always bitching in spite of the fact that this is worth a lot in PR terms. Anyway good on them for honoring their heritage. !*salute*!
