TS2014 Game Freezes

Unread postby davedingler » Sun Mar 30, 2014 5:15 pm

Hey all,

For some reason, the game freezes when attempting to go to a location in the route that I'm building. It's been going on for the past two or three weeks.

What happens: After the route loads and the game is at the start position, I open the fly-outs and select a decal to go to the general area that I want to work on. Sometimes this works and other times the game will freeze. Cnt-Alt-Del shows the game still running. I get no indication from the application of TS 2014 that there has been a crash other that a window that says something about a log file being saved. If I click on cancel to the Task Manager that closes but clicking on the TS 2014 icon in the task bar doesn't load the program. C-A-D again and end Railworks and start all over again. I've tried different decal locations, entering the lat-lon location in the compass and the TS 2014 freezes. Occasionally it will go to the selected position, either by lat-lon or decal selection, but most often it freezes. Also, on the occasions that I've been able to get to the desired location to work and am flying along the track to find problems or lay a new section of tracks, yard or whatever, it will freeze after a short distance of travel.

I have cleared the cache, verified the local files from steam several times the past couple of weeks. Hid the decals from the files (RWDecals), but still get the freezes.

Anyone else had this type of problem? How did you fix it?

As a suggestion, it could be related to the number of decal markers in the route. Do you have these set to be shown (so you see all the flags)?

If not then ignore me, but if they are (and I'm not sure if they still appear with the decals being hidden) try switching them off and then having a look around the route. Hopefully this will sort you out and the resolution would be to fully delete all the decals from within RWDecal and start afresh, but not covering such a large area.

Good luck!

But if fate should mark me to sit by your side,
Let's be pleasant travellers; it's so short a ride."

Thanks HertsBob,

It doesn't seem to matter whether the flags are showing or not. It still freezes. I do have several paths laid out in RWDecals loaded into the route, and that may be where the problem lies. I may try to limit the loading of two or three paths in adjoining areas that I'm working in. Just laying track right now with very few scenery objects being placed.

That's a bit of a shame. I had a similar issue a while back which was only apparent when the flags were displayed and I was hoping that was the same problem you're having, and even now I tend to only have between 20-30 miles worth of decals in a route at any one time just in case.

Cheers

Bob

I followed the suggestion from the above post and it seems to work. There is a problem in the Networks\Track Files folder of the routes files. There are 571 files in that folder, and the tracks.bin file is over 11,625 pages (word.doc).
I have no idea of where to start looking for the problem in these files.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave
