You don't have a backup? Roll your computer back to whenever it worked OK and it should work then.

I've had problems with crashes also. Seems to happen when I click on certain decals in the decal list. Other times when I get carried away with laying track or inserting objects and forget to save. Seem that if I don't save after a few entries that everything freezes up and the only recourse is the CAD method.

Don't panic! Please explain what exactly is happening when you enter the editor? Are you getting a black screen, or an error message or what? Is it only this route you can't edit - or all routes? What were the last changes you made to the route?

These things can be solved with a systematic approach. If your problem is specific to your route - ie you can edit other routes OK, then I recommend as a first step to disable the folders in your route directory one at a time. You can disable a folder by renaming it with an X suffix. Check to see if it operation is restored after disabling: MixMap, Networks, Scenery, Terrain, RouteInformation, and finally Scenarios ( although it will create a temporary Scenarios file ) .

Once you know which of these is the problem, we can dig further to figure it out.

Don't panic. Try to remember what you changed just before it started crashing.

Also, try running TS2014 with Logmate.
Search here for instructions.
The log will help you find the cause of the problem.

OK what I changed was I moved a piece of track about an inch to the right. When I go into the route editor for that route it crashes get a error message that "Railworks has stopped working"

Verify that it is a track problem. Temporarily remove your Tracks.bin and 'Track Tiles' folder to a safe place. And see if the editor will start without the track.

Check out your RouteProperties.xml file to make sure it hasn't been corrupted. Just make sure it ends with </cRouteProperties>

Then go through the route folders that I mentioned above, removing them one by one to a safe place. Eventually you should find one that causes the failure. Knowing which folder helps us isolate the problem.

Probably also a good idea to delete the cache files in your Content folder,
and delete all the blueprints.pak files just in case.

That's good information.
There are several experienced route builders here, give them time to read your post and reply.
Meanwhile, don't try anything drastic on your route, but take a backup now as I explained in the other thread.
Actually you should have done so before trying the suggestions above.

Assuming it's the route causing the crash, and not TS2014 crashing at startup ...

this has worked for me on a few occasions: clone the route.

Try loading the new clone version.

That's it.

Why does it work? Dunno.

Will it work? It might.

Worst that can happen? It'll still crash.
