OK GUYS
Here is what I have right now. I did get the GP 38's loaded and running.
And with the GP 20PHL I have couplers loading up so I'm getting close.
I did find three geo files called gp20_PHL gp20_SP these are cab files and one gp20_sp engine file.
So I copied them into the gp-20_PHL folder and that's is how I now get at least couplers to load.
Should I delete some of these files?

I really don't like to cause so much trouble on here and take up so much of your time.
Iwould like to thank you all for your help.

Hey no problem. That's one of the reasons we're here. Did you put the cab one into the cabview and the other one into the engine folder? They go there not just in the PHL folder.

On my installation, that file I posted the path to has these files:

LocoInformation
Textures
GP20_SP.GeoPcDx
GP20SP.adv.bin
GP20SP_Adv_Running.bin
GP20SP_numbers.dcsv

The GP20_PHL_cab.GeoPcDx files were already in the CabView folder. I didn't have to move them.

Now I just need to find that GP20 starting guide.

Edit: found that guide on You Tube. Pretty simple. Kinda sorta.

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Manuals\EN

Look for GP20.

OK I didn't do something right here. Is there just the one GeoPcDx file that has to be copied/ pasted? I found several more of them in the GP20SP folder, in different sub-folders. What's happening is, the engine is already running. But I can't get the darn thing to move. Tried both simple and expert controls (which affect the instruments, controls and F4 HUD). I'll try the PHL in another freeroam. Guess I should also try the SP GP20 as well. Could be it's messed up.

Does the engine rev up and it just sits there or is it unresponsive?

No joy here yet.
Only couplers loading up.
I don't have any idea of what I'm doing wrong. I first deleted all the PHL files and downloads then started from scratch. It must be that I'm not doing something right with the extraction with Winrar program or maybe I can't use that program for it to work right.
Anyway when I finally explore to the PHL folder and open it up I don't find any folders like I do with other engines like for instance ENGINE, CAB, that I can copy the GeoPvDx engine and cab files into.
Maybe someone would know what I'm doing wrong.
I have downloaded the 7 Zip file manager but I don't know how to change from Winrar to that one.
Thanks,
Bob

One last question and then I'll explain in detail what you need to do. You do have the SP version from RSC right? The file you downloaded you should be able to just right click on the zipped file and just hit the "Extract all" choice and it should unzip for you. Get that done and answer my question and I'll walk you through the rest of it.

Hello Buzz
Yes I do have the SP version and I know how to start it up and drive it.
Here is what I do.
First I download the file from RWA. That puts the files on my desktop. I open that file and extract the setup exe and that goes on my desktop also. The
n I click ot it and it downloads it all the way to Railworks. Now I navigate to Reppo and that's the files with gp20 and I copy all the geoPcDx files from there to my desktop. Now I navigate to the PHL folder and that is where I can't find any folders that say enigne or cab or anything else so I can only paste the files into the folder. Now I go into railworks and I can find the name of the PHL engine next to my SP engine and If I click on the track it just loads the couplers.
That's my story I know I'm doing something wrong but I don't know what.
Thanks for your patience Buzz.

I led you a little astray before. I forgot Reppo has a bit of a different way of organizing this stuff. OK. The path in there is Assets\Reppo\Gp20PackSP\RailVehicles\Diesel. Then you should see two files. One is Gp20PHL. Inside there you need the following and everything should be there but the GP20_SPGeoPcDx file. You said you had it on your desktop. Paste it here.
Gp20PHLfolder.jpg

When done it should look like this.

Then go back to Gp20PackSP. You should see the cabview folder in there. Paste the gp20_PHL.cab.GeoPcDx folder in the cabview folder. Now it should look like this.
Gp20SPcabview.jpg

Good luck.

I had done a lot of testing this morning, running the default Reppo SP GP20, and having fun with it (I really think the starting sequence is fun!) then trying to get the PHL skin to work right, (it still doesn't) but figured I'd hold off posting more, and see if we could get Bob straightened out first. This is his Topic, I kinda derailed it and I can wait. *!!wink!!*

Bob, I see what you are doing wrong, I think. Cause, I did the same thing at first. If you copy that "GeoPcDx" file from the Reppo GP20SP folder back to the desktop file, it does nothing. Once you have dug into Reppo's folders down to where you are seeing two folders, one named "GP20PHL" the other is "GP20SP", just copy the GeoPcDx file from GP20SP up to the GP20PHL folder. That should do it. These are the two folders you need to be seeing:

Putting anything back into that desktop file, once the installer has run, does nothing.

Make sure you have the selector lever in the number 1 position.

We have liftoff!
Arizonachris that did the trick I now have this beautiful painted GP 20 running down my track.
It was well worth the effort this is a beautiful repaint Thank you Buzz456 for the nice repaint and for all your help to get it running.
I will not forget all of the help from you guys, Thank You Both very much. Also XDriver for the fine repaint.

Arizonachris be sure you put the selector lever to the number one position on the operator rack in the cab view and be sure to turn the start switch back to the run position on the back panel after you start the engine.

I certainly did not want to take up so much of everyones time on this project.
I'm now going to play with my new Gp 20 *!!thnx!!*
