I'm having problems with the SD70 lighting and sound pack

Unread postby Ericmopar » Tue Dec 03, 2013 11:54 pm

This to be more precise...
http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/d ... =25:sounds

I'm having problems installing this to 2014 and the "SD70 V2 Volume 2" DLC.
I looked at the file paths and as far as I can tell, they are okay.
I used the supplied installer but was missing my SD70 engine textures.
I reinstalled a backup of my RailWorks folder and everything was back to normal, so I tried a manual copy and paste of the Lighting Pack's "Railworks" folder.
Still got the missing textures problem.
I read on another thread, that It may be that I never owned "Pack01"? !*don-know!*

I couldn't find a solution in a search and was hoping someone/s finally figured out what it is, that cause owners of SD70 V2 Volume 2 DLC, to not be able to use the lighting pack.

Well, I've found another file that will fix the lights in the SD70 V2 Volume 2 DLC.

It's here.

http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/d ... ccessories

As a side note, it's the Audio in the other pack that is somehow making the SD70 loco textures disappear.
I deleted all the lighting enhancements and the only thing that was left was the audio folders.
So it appears there is a problem with aliasing somewhere in the "SD70 10-Engine Sound and Total Lighting Enhancement Pack v1.0" when a person tries to use it with the SD70 V2 Volume 2 DLC, as opposed to the original SD70 Volume 2.

RSC's designations for these SD70 packs are confusing as hell. I wish they would fix it.

Eureka!!!

I've found the problem of why the "SD70 10-Engine Sound and Total Lighting Enhancement Pack v1.0" Will not work with the SD70 V2 Volume 2 DLC. !*brav*!
The Geometry ID's are wrong for the engine sound bins for pack 02 and 03.
They are both addressed to the 01 pack.
The Geometry IDs are found near the bottom of the engine sound bins.

I changed the Geometry ID to "SD70Pack02" in the engine sound bin for pack 02 and changed the Geometry ID in the SD70Pack03, engine sound bin to "SD70Pack03" and the textures showed up again!

You mean the GeometryID that's inside the <EditorRenderComponent> node?
That's supposed to be for the sound widget in the editor.
I'm confused as to why this would cause problems in the game.
Good find.

This was in one of the bins I was talking about. Found here, Railworks\Assets\RSC\SD70Pack02\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD70ACe\SD70 Engine Sound.bin (The modified one in the sound pack BTW, not the original)
Before I changed it.
<GeometryID d:type="cDeltaString">RSC\SD70Pack01\Audio\Markers\[00]SoundEmitter</GeometryID>

After I changed it.
<GeometryID d:type="cDeltaString">RSC\SD70Pack02\Audio\Markers\[00]SoundEmitter</GeometryID>

I did that for SD70Pack03 as well, changing the GeometryID to "SD70Pack03". Again, that's the engine sound bin for Krellnuts sounds for the SD70, not the original.

In RW_Tools that would be found near the bottom of those bin files, with the slider all the way down.

That's a excellent find all right. This might the reason some were not getting locos to show up if they didn't have all the packs. I'll make the necessary changes to packs 2 and 3, and ask Bob to update the pack. Sorry everyone.

I guess we'll gonna have to check a lot of sound blueprints. Nobody could have suspected that this was important.

Yes, all that trouble for two digits. LOL

If nothing else, a separate pack could now be issued for the SD70 V2 Volume 2 pack if necessary.

And, thanks for those sounds Krellnut, and whoever else was involved. !!*ok*!!

Here is one more thing related to all this.
I'm currently using Krellnut's sounds in my SD70s with no problems, but I'm using this light fix http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/d ... ccessories.
That light fix works as long as the SD70s are used on Cajon Pass, but, if a person uses the SD70s out of Cajon Pass, a person will have to go into the world editor for the route in question. Then click on the small blue cube that's used to enable more assets, then click on Kuju in the upper right flyout window, then select RailSimulatorUS.
That will enable the light fix on whatever route your are trying to use the SD70s on other than Cajon.
Can't figure for the life of me why, unless that fix is aliasing a engine's lights in the Kuju folder.

I don't know yet if that will apply to the lighting in the "SD70 10-Engine Sound and Total Lighting Enhancement Pack v1.0" .
The sounds follow the SD70s wherever they go without special attention, it's just the lights that may need extra care outside of Cajon Pass.

That's because Doc put the light enhancements in RailSimulatorUS folder and not with my sounds.

I've now got a SD75 engine sound bin, that draws of your sounds Krellnut.
If anyone is interested in adding to the Sound and lighting pack.

I'm thinking of adding the Sherman Hill SD70s now.

I've just realized that I'm missing other sounds, like the dynamic brake sounds...

Well.
I now know why I'm not getting other sounds like the Dynamics. The Poxyxml is addressed to Pack01 mostly for those things.
So if a person doesn't own Pack01, they won't get all the sounds.
The solution is to create a new SD70.proxyxml just for the SD70 V2 Volume 2 DLC. That should draw the correct sounds if someone already owns Pack01.
I'm thinking a SD70.proxyxml directed at the Pack02 Dynamics etc.

My fix was for the textures, but a person still needs pack 01, 02 and 03 to make the whole thing work.

As of 19:12 hrs Pacific Daylight Time. I have gotten the snits and dynamic sounds working in SD70 Packs 01, 02, 03 With Krellnut's SD70, 710 engine sounds. With textures showing.
What I don't know is this. Is it legal to send out Dovetail's engine sounds in an accessory pack?

Generally speaking if you don't include the GeoPcDx it's fine, the thinking being that you already own the piece of payware so you can modify it without any issues.
