Thanks! Never heard of that one.

I have a clear love/hate relationship with passenger & commuter trains. As a railfan I love them. As a taxpayer, they make my blood boil because I hate with a passion the subsiding of public transportation. If they can't pay for themselves through ridership income, they shouldn't exist. *!mad!*

I think an extension of Sherman would be good for that. Take it east out of Cheyenne all the way to North Platte, and possibly (eventually ) the rest of the way to Omaha. (It's a monster yeah, but these new roués seem to be getting bigger all the time, so ya never know. *!!wink!!* That would give those SD70Ms room to run, as well as the upcoming 844.)

Lets not stray too far off topic, this about the Surf liner.

Living in Murrieta this is not too far away, really need to take the trip to LA via the train, although Obispo is more beautiful by far :D. You know with TS2014's Workshop we'll be able to upload extensions to any route and share them easily?

Well you can easily do that with cloned routes now anyway. TBH, I wish I could have done that rather interesting freight branch that used to run past Miramar NAS, which seems now bisected by what looks to be a state prison. I really like doing obscure run down branch lines. Clearly it closed down donkeys years ago though so inappropriate for this project.

In San Diego, I noted that from the station down to the docks its all single line, with one track used for the tramway. Would I be right in thinking this was a double line track into Mexico once upon a time? That must have been a fun ride....

Would be fun to make the line to Escondido too, I think there's some desiro DMUs around.

I enjoy running quick, tightly scheduled scenarios as long as they are well made and challenging, rather than a boring end-end long distance boring continuous run with no objective other than to make it to a spot in a yard.

I would like to see RSC animate the water to make waves that crash onto the shore. That would add immensely to the realism. *!greengrin!*

True that there's not much switching action, so all one's left with are through freights and the Surfliner only has a few stops, but there's Metrolink and a nice industrial area south of Fullerton. Hopefully, these will be included, otherwise, Buzz's assesment of a yawner might not be far off.
Cheers!

Do you not think... There may be an opportunity... For just a little bit... Even if it is just the once? *!!wink!!* (You line 'em up, and I'll knock 'em in)

I referred to LA as being my Venice of the railroads before, and this is what I meant. Many of the street lines have now been closed but I've tried to include anything that looks like it might have vaguely had a train run on it in living memory, within reason ovbiously. When you look around in Google Earth (which I thoroughly recommend) you can follow a street line for absolutely ages until you're lost, and they are and were literally everywhere. Like nowhere else I've ever seen in my (limited) experience. Sorry if this is common knowledge. *!embar*!

**!!bow!!** I hate how I don't want to spend anymore money on railworks but I need this route... just from the map it looks like there's plenty of activities to be done on the route.

I agree. The route has more potential then first glanced based on what they included....especially Hobart yard. I'm often amazed at the speed at which they can produce these routes.

Thanks for the map snippet hertsbob! You really should visit California at least once in your life. The diversity of the landscapes of the state make it a mecca for railfans. So many great routes, spots for viewing and scenery.... not to mention great weather all year long. !!*ok*!!

I sure hope liberties aren't taken, such as adding OS sidings or track long since pulled. *!rolleyes!*

I've ridden the Surfliner several times, including cab rides in both directions, even one which included a rearward view from an F59PHI (SD to Oceanside). Perhaps at one time it was the Western RR Venice, but like the passenger trains moving commuters, the whole corridor has been streamlined and a shadow of its former self. Nevertheless, I suppose you can make it into anything you wanted, but the truth is that aside from rush hour Metrolink, through freights and the Surfliners, very little happens in what was once a very busy place. *!sad!*
Cheers!
