Engine repaint by Buzz456 How to find it?

Unread postby Railroy19 » Tue Aug 20, 2013 6:14 am

I downloaded and ran the setup exe for both of his repaints. I can't seem to locate them. Could someone please lead me to the correct filter section so I can enter them on my route?
I have a problem locating a lot of items that I download because I'm not sure just where to look to install them.
Are they under RSC or Kuju?
This one of the most difficult things I find in Railworks to figure out.
I appreciate all of the great freeware items offered here, thanks to all these creative people.

Thanks,
Bob

They are repaints of the "default" stuff from years ago, so that puts them in the Kuju/RailsimulatorUS area.

They should show up in your left flyout as SD40-2 HLCX, HLCX NC, HLCX_blue and HLCX_blue NC. KujuRailsimulatorUS should be ticked off in the right flyout.

They are not showing so I must have done something wrong with the EXE setup file.
It said they were installed but I can't find them yet.
I cleared the cache after installing, maybe I have to fix the game files.
Will try that next.
Thanks for your help guys.

Did you use the auto install? The path is Railworks\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40-2\HLCX. Go see if it is there.

Well then drill down through the folders on the one that says railworks until you get to the one that says HLCX. Copy and paste it in the same place where your other SD40-2's are and see if it shows up.

Let me help you for that.
There are 2 kinds of packages widely used for distribution.

1- Rwp files produced by RSC's package manager.
These files are modified zip files, you can open them with tools such as 7zip.
Inside, you will find folders and files, which fit inside the Railworks file structure.
For example, for repaints you might see a folder structure such as Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD40-2\HLCX.
You can browse through them and easily determine where the content is supposed to go.

2- Zip files containing folders and a .exe file produced with RW-Tools
The exe is an installer that just copies the files contained in the folders to your Railworks installation.
The top-most folder is usually "Railworks" and you can browse through it the same way as described above.

No luck yet. I looked in most of my folders and can't find anything with HLCX in them.
The setup exe says it's installed just don't know where.
Anyway thanks for your help, But I don't want to waste any more of your time Buzz.
Thanks so much.

Do you know how to run a search with windows? It will take you to the folder. Under the windows Start button the second one up is search. Click on all files and folders and type in there HLCX. That will find where the darn thing is at.

Tried windows search and no HLCX showing up.
Just to try something I just downloaded the new RS3 for Vermont Railroad and it installed ok and loaded right up on a route. I just wanted to see if my computer was working ok.
When I run the setup exe I see lots of files loading into Railworks and the it says the files are installed.
I don't know what else to do.

Have you tried Chacal's idea to open the file and place it where it belongs manually?

If you did a windows search like I said and it wasn't found anywhere then you didn't download it. It should at least show up in your D/L folder if nowhere else.

I have tried everything I know how to do. I have downloaded these files the same way I download any other files and installed them the same way I always do and these engines are just not showing up.
Maybe I have a bad connection that is corrupting the file download somehow. The setup EXE normally works fine everytime for me and it seems to work when I run it for these repaints,it tells me the file sare installed.
Well anyway thanks to all of you for your help and advise.
I don't want to waste anyones time for a little problem like this.
