Problems running TS 2013

Unread postby LandN » Wed Jul 17, 2013 12:16 pm

Well, I'm about to chuck TS 2013 in the trash and go back to MSTS. I have had a lot of problems with routes not loading and when they do load, scenarios freezing up. I just bought Marias Pass hoping that it would work. Ran the first 2 scenarios (BN & BNSF engineer training) and they worked fine. Tried the next two on the list and they wouldn't load. Decided to try a Quick Drive to see what would happen. Guess what, it loaded and I was off on a trip from Shelby to Whitefish. All is well?
Wrong, I got to Cut Bank and it froze up and wouldn't restart.

Besides the obvious, like reinstalling Railworks completely,
you should check your internal temperatures (CPU, video card, etc).

Computers freezing up while running heavy loads often have a temperature problem.

You may decide to chuck RW2013 however please don't blame the game. It runs just fine for plenty of us and I don't think we should leave the impression that the game is flawed. Admittedly it takes a fairly nice computer to fully use everything but if you don't have that you just need to dial down the graphics. I have well south of a thousand dollars, including that it's liquid cooled and can run RW with everything wide open and I can't remember the last time I had a crash while running a scenario. My computer is home made but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to make a box nowadays.

Actually I believe if you let a rocket scientist build a computer the results will be disastrous.

*!lol!*

Back on topic, most likely you have some corrupted 3rd-party files.

I would delete the whole Railworks folder (after taking a backup) and let Steam reinstall from scratch. It may take a day or two but it is the way to be sure. This will give you a clean install, without any 3rd-party stuff.

Then you should make a backup of this clean install, so that you can always roll back to it if other problems happen.

Finally you can start adding your 3rd-party routes and assets back.

One at a time so you can determine which one is causing your problem.
