Is this normal? (For this sim?)

Unread postby SithMurcielago » Tue Jul 16, 2013 5:08 am

I was doing some test runs with a some what of a big consist.

16 Amtrak Superliners (Auto train Style)
2 SD70ACE Engines

I tried 20 Autoracks but that train wasn't going anywhere which is strange because I remember when I was doing my auto train route and back then i had the P42DCs they didn't struggle nearly as much as these units did. Even with three of them. Did this sim rollback as in terms of physics?

Plus this weird thing happened when I was moving:

Is this a bug in the cars or the sim?

It looks to me like with this really long consist you are running into the famous RSC "stretching " couplers. These are some of the older cars from before the coupler issue was addressed. subsutute the Brikit couplers and your problem should go away. Sure you are not dragging them around with the brakes on? !*roll-laugh*!

Ok i use the couplers but i realized the superliners use a different type which is the Diaphragm. . i don't know how to replace it without breaking something.

Can you use the North East Corridor AmFleet Buckeye Couplings? By renaming the AmFleet_Buckeye.bin file and over writing the Old Coupling.Bin in the RailVehicle folder? Of course you need to rename the Old Coupling.Bin.xxx so you can recover is it doesn't work.

BTW, the Britkit couplers are nice but I have adopted GreatNortherner's Buckeye couplers for use on all my assets. His Brake Line Hoses look more like the prototypical ones in size and appearance.

Well in that case i can do the same for the regular Buckeye couplers, I'm just worried about the gangway which seems to be also connected to the couplers.

If the couplers don't stretch the gangways should be fine.

It might be because your moving the train too fast, when you move it slow, that shouldnt happen, in my case it doesnt.

You can't swap the couplers because the vestibule is in the shape file. Your only fix is in RW Tools and I've changed mine by increasing the spring coefficient to 10000 and the damping force to 8000.
