Help with autonumbering

Unread postby glenn68 » Sat Mar 10, 2012 2:31 pm

I went back to a old project I was going to do. I did a repaint of GreatNortherner's 52 foot gondola in P&LE. Everything went fine but the auto numbers are wrong. SO I edited the auto number DCSV file for the number series of 41000 and 43000 but the numbers dont show up? This car come standard with 6 place numbers. So I did try putting a zero infront of the numbers I wanted for example 041000 and still nothing.
Please help! What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Glenn

Glenn,

Now how many digits were in the DCSV file before editing? if the placeholder was for six, you can essentially use a blank number from Michael's invisible numbers package, and simply use the other digits as advertised originally: Example: X41000 (X would be a blank) or you could do 41000X. I recommend also relocating the reporting marks of the car slightly to offset for the missing autonumber. Just use one of the digits and convert it to an x or something memorable. You'll also have to manually add a reference for it into the bin file for the numbering.

Now another question: has anything else been altered aside from the DCSV file itself? any mods in the bin file for the numbering? A mistyped path to a number can also do that. These are just two ideas I can think of to cause the said error.

Hope that at least directs you to the right direction...

I also have a similar problem with autonumbering.

On the COARW I run several coal trains of 100 or more cars. The same hopper cars are used in various trains.
Not all of them have their individual number showing, perhaps because the number of that particular car in the scenario exceeds the list of available numbers in the dcsv?
I have copy-change-pasted the list of numbers in the dcsv a few times, each time adding a "millenium" but I did not alter the id-values.

Still the in game cars do not show autonumbers. How can I make all the cars show a different number? I tired selecting the whole list of cars in RW_Tools and applied the button, but that didn't help either. Now that one train has all cars with the same number.

I am running into difficulties modifying the numbers on GreatNortherner's GP9. Tried several different techniques to create blank textures. Britkits uses a similar method--the use of number_x.TgPcDx--and this has worked on Dick Cowan's engines.

Thomas Pearce said "you can essentially use a blank number from Michael's invisible numbers package, and simply use the other digits as advertised originally"...

Where can Michael's [Stephan] invisible numbers package be found or obtained?

Thanks,
