Hi, yes a tad cryptic, here is sly's post from UKTS.

"Me and the northern one often chat while we do modelling late into the evening... the most productive time.
Comment was passed about the most fun I had when doing the train in a day... Closely followed by yeah but how about a steam engine.

Thereby seemed a challenge...

So on the second anniversary of RS release, an all night session, 8pm to 8am........ beer and Max are the tools...... and the weapons of choice are steam or diesel.

Still finding loco' subjects that are of similar complexity.. one steam and one diesel though not necessarily UK subjects.

It is a fun challenge between ourselves that may be interesting to watch.

Really its about how much detail we can get while keeping the quality high ... in twelve hours.

So the man thinks he can push poly's pretty quick ... bring it............we shall see

Sly"

Hi,
Round 1 will not be UK stock.

There is a reason why I posted it in the US forums too...

Lemme guess... they'll be a round two? *!rolleyes!* *!lol!*

I dunno Derek, call us Yanks cynical but the idea of two burly masculine figures that could cut a rug with the ladies behind two geeky computers pushing mouses and keyboard keys in a mano el mano deathmatch to outdo each other building some virtual locomotive just isn't getting the adrenaline flowing. Clever, definetely clever advertising though. But I think the ringside seats won't be as filled with cheering frothing sports maniacs as you limeys might be expecting. I can just see the crowd whistling and jeering as a poly is pushed in place while the hotdog guy is going up and down the aisles yelling out beer, popcorn ... whatever. Or cries of foul if a texture is warped or a poly extruded beyond human endurance. Can't you just hear the hush of the crowd when the animation is first tested? Not me, I hear yawning. *turns to other yanks and whispers* No wonder we kicked their butts in the war... *!twisted!*

Sounds like lots of fun Derek, wish ya lots of luck. Lots of luck my foot, Derek is the best! My bet is on you big fella, kick that Sly's butt, he doesn't think too kindly of us here at Railworks America anyway! !*YAAA*!

!*don-know!* *couldn't resist*
*!!wink!!*

Hi Rich,

I don't expect anyone to watch as such, though I guess it might be intresting for some creators to dip in to see the process evolve.

I'm also not sure there can be a winner except the RWs users, this is just an execise in fun, and the results will be for everyone to see and share.
It will take a lot of energy and coffee to get through the night, (after a long day at work!) but the banter will be good.

It's going to be intresting to see the areas each other focus on in such a small space of time

I was just having some fun Derek, I think it's a great idea. We can always use a little more content like you suggested. Maybe to up the ante for you guys and turn this into a barrel of laughs you two can do this idea in 3D Canvas. Then not only would you guys be sweating a brick and letting loose with a number of colorful sports metaphors but maybe we could also could learn something about that "dang" cantankerous program. !*cheers*!

Personally, I like the idea,

I'll also second the idea of 3D Canvas Pro. Just trying to get auto numbering to work with 3D Canvas alone seems to definitely help relocate one's own sanity..

For steam power, a standard Baldwin 2-8-0 Consolidation could be used, and for diesel, any non-EMD units (Baldwin RF16's maybe?) Just rambling off some ideas as well.
