There will be a coach, a diner, baggage, and a sleeper/lounge/observation painted to match.
SP&S ran train 1 from Portland, Oregon to Spokane, Washington daily. It consisted of the SP&S cars listed above, two coaches and a sleeper from the NP North Coast Limited, and two coaches and one or two sleepers from the GN Empire Builder. The North Coast cars were cut off at Pasco, WA and merged into the Eastbound NP North Coast Limited from Seattle, WA. The train continued to Spokane, WA where the GN Empire Builder cars were cut and added to the Eastbound Empire builder from Seattle, WA. The schedule was such that the Westbound Empire Builder arrived as the Eastbound was leaving. The cars for Portland were cut off and the rest of the train continued to Seattle. Train 1 became train 2, added the Empire Builder cars and headed back to Portland. Train 2 then met the Westbound North Coast Limited, and picked up the cars from it for Portland, and the rest continued to Seattle. Train 2 then continued through the Columbia river gorge, following the river to Portland.
Amtrak still runs a ghost version of Train 1, one coach, an observation lounge/coach, two sleepers and a baggage from Portland Oregon to Spokane, Washington. It delivers the cars to the Eastbound Empire Builder, gathers up the cars from the Westbound Empire Builder and returns to Portland. 18 hour round trip each day.
