Loading/Unloading cars question

Unread postby flatbush71 » Mon Jun 20, 2011 4:21 pm

Let me ask you guys if it is possible to mod the transfer points to load / unload cars other than bulk ? Does it change the state of the bulk car to loaded/unloaded, and if so why not mod other cars to do the same. Boxes, tanks and so forth would just change weight and bulkheads with fixed loads to loaded /unloaded. I hope that makes a little sense. !**conf**!

Well, I figured out the forklift ramp does load/unload the flat cars. !*YAAA*!
Now just figure out how to change from I-Beams to pipe.

The poor driver, the forklift is apparently made of depleted uranium :p

!*roll-laugh*! I think someone modified his SWL sticker...LOL!

You change this by editing the path in the </TransferPointComponent> section of the blueprint for the animated forklift object to point to the pipe BIN file which in turn finds the GeoPcDx file and texture files of these pipes.
If the animated object is not yours then I guess you will need permission to do so if you intend to upload any modifications you have done.

The fork lift is my creation and was published with the idea that users would change the loads. As long as the basic model is unchanged, it is OK to rename and change the bin file. I only ask that it not be used in Pay routes without my permission, and that I be given credit in the read me for any freeware route it is included with.

Well, I'm not uploading anything. Its all ready in a route that I didn't create. My only intention was to see if I could load and unload the pipes like the I-beam. But having been in the Train-Sim racket for over 10 years ( MSTS, RS/RW, Trainz), I can already see where this is going. So I'll just stop this project right here and move on to something else. !!**sorry**!!

This is just a few of the 100s of loads I've placed on bulkhead cars over the years.

Of course they don't load tank cars on the game since you can't see the load. The load mostly is decoration.

This I don't understand and also where you are coming from....
You did ask in the start of the thread for help and I replied to the last part on how / where. The permission part was a helpful hint in case you planned to upload as I have seen some folks make this honest mistake before.
As you did not mention any of your intentions or plans then I may have over stepped my mark by assuming such and apologize.

Nice load setups by the way....

It appears dick8299 provided that permission as long as you honored his request that you give him credit for the model in the readme, and that you add that it cannot be used with payware distributions (you could probably copy and paste his readme into yours).

There is always more than one way to skin a cat.
Of all the 100s of different parts and other assorted things I have put together over the years, not once have I ever said anything to anybody about permission.
IMHO It is the most childish and selfish concept I have ever heard of. This stuff is not real. Its nothing but a image on a TV screen, a kids toy.

If you had read my post correctly, you would have noted that I specifically said you did NOT need my permission to change the loads for the freight dock!

I merely reiterated for other users, my desire not to have the freight dock used in a Payware route.

Lighten up!
