Help with making number textures

Unread postby ATSF3814 » Sun Jun 19, 2011 2:03 am

I'm having a real problem making new number textures. They keep coming in with really jagged edges no matter what I do:

I've tried just about everything I can think of to fix it but nothing seems to work. Can anyone help?

* Make sure the background colour is the same as the background on the model.
* When you make the selection to take to the alpha channel, make sure it's antialiased and then expand it by one pixel
* Only then fill the alpha channel in.

That way your jagged edges will be in the background colour, hopefully, which shouldn't show up. I say shouldn't because there's other issues like specularity which will change the background colour, but it should be nearer.

Thank you Kali! !*salute*!

The numberboards are still a little rough around the edges, but it looks much better.

Well, expand it by another pixel then :) and so on. The idea is to make the edges the same colour as the background, without making them so big that you notice if the light changes.

Alternatively forget the transparency entirely & just make the backgrounds all the same, but that will generally only look ok in certain places.

Ok. I'll keep messing with it and see if I can get it to look better.
