I've been reskinning for a long time, but I've encountered a perplexing problem. Two of my layers show on the PSP, DDS, and TGPCX images, but do not show up in the game. I've included a couple of reference pics. Has anyone seen this issue before? If so, how do I fix it?

It looks to me like you'd have to alpha-out the autonumbers. At least that's what happened to me when I ran into this.

I am not familiar with how this loco should look. What is missing? What is the source loco you are using?

An attentive scrutiny reveals the the number painted (104) on the loco's body is under the other number. My comprehension of textures hierearchy is that the auto-number, whether "stand alone'' or visible through a decal link will appear as the primary layer thus over-shadowing anything under. Check in the .geopcdx file to see if a call is for a decal texture - if so, one can render its visibility by changing 1 to 0 on the 16th. slot (the last one of the matrix). just a hunch... as I have not seen the .geo file.

Hi Harry,
I take it you are referring to the round ACL heralds on the sides of the short hood. If so, then I'm afraid you've fallen into a trap I've unknowingly included in the template textures.
On the GP7/9, the mapping for the short hood sides is *not* located in the middle of the texture (where you added the ACL heralds). That part is a leftover from the SD7/9 that I seem to have forgotten to remove from the mapping guide.
Instead, it is on the upper two "panels", left and right of the long hood mapping. If you toggle the "MAPPING" layer in the template texture, you'll notice a small gap between the short and long hood areas. (Edit:) Here's a screenshot of where the heralds should go on the Geeps:

Sorry for the confusion!
Cheers

Thank you, Michael. Will get back to the drawing table ASAP. BTW, I have replace the auto numbers with transparent images. They will not appear in the finished product.

Harry,
This kind of autonumber problem is usually caused by one of the .bin files: either the engine's .bin file links to a texturing.bin file outside of your repaint's folder tree, or the texturing.bin file in the textures\ folder links to number texture files other than those which you have replaced by the all-transparent ones.
Cheers
Michael

Hi Michael,
I copied a numbers.bin file from the GP-9 package and pasted it into the engine texture folder as well as a number.tgpcx file. Then I edited the tgpcx file to be transparent blank and edited the main bin file and the numbers bin. Now I only have the ACL engine number.
