I see a lot of repaints but what I don't see is any "X" cars. Cars that are owned by non railroad companies. These cars all end with an X on the car mark. An example "GATX", "JWAX", etc.

See a lot of these down south here. !!howdy!!

The X cars are a fairly recent development, and were rare and uncommon in the period (1948-1963) I'm trying to model. I don't know about others, but I think the privately owned cars should get some love as well if you're doing modern era.

MadMike1024, you're correct. I first remember them when in the mid 60's - 70's there was a box car shortage and the government put a lot of RBOX cars in service to help with the shortage. If I remember right they used box cars for just about everything in those days. They were common bulk grain carriers, lined with paper then filled. Then the grain hoppers became common. :D

yes some of these private cars would be nice to see. most of the railcars still in service today are owned by private companys like Procor, GATX, Railbox, etc.....
some like railbox and the canadian wheatboard have a "mixed style of lettering on them: CNWX is canadian wheatboard cars that run on CN track and CPWX is for CP. i have seen some of the railbox cars with CNA on them and i assume it is the same thing since i mostly see them on the CN lines.
