Catch a Ride on the Grain Train

Unread postby simer4 » Sat Apr 30, 2011 3:38 pm

Hello again. In a previous, I had said I was working on some Hawker-Siddely Cylindrical Grain Hoppers in Canadian schemes. Well keeping to my word, I will show the first hopper from the paintshop (It's been on the road for a while too *!!wink!!* ). A big thanks goes out to djaytoo from Flickr for allowing me to use his pictures. In all there will be 46 repaints as of now. If anyone wants one done, then feel free to send me a picture. It must be looking straight at the side however.
Anyway, enough blabbing, on to the pictures. (Blast the max file size!)

I know Canadian rail simmers will be happy!

One thing that just struck me, is there a shadow model on that?

Yes there is. You're probably looking at that dark line on the texture. That is a shadow. This is the Hawker-Siddely Cylindrical Hopper available here on the file library by GreatNortherner.

Nice! How about one of these new Saskatchewan cars (Car has a giant reflection/sun glare spot since it's brand new, I'll try to find one without it):

Best I can find with no sun glare 90 degree roster shot: http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetai ... toID=51757

Also the older ones: http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetai ... PhotoID=59

anybody who has a prarrie and western style modern route will love these, they can be found from Canada to Mexico, mainly in the western US and northern Mexico. anything west of quebec for Canada has them.

I've got 2 SKPX Cars and 2 SKNX Cars queued up for painting. I dont' think I could use the second shot either. Sorry. I do have some though!

Alright, two cars are complete. Now that I have the main layout completely down, it should be very quick and easy to turn out more cars faster.

Wow this is fantastic work. !*brav*!
They look so realistic and I like the all-red colour on them.

I just don't like this graffiti version. I hate people putting graffiti on beautiful railcars.

It's a good thing you don't live here in Los Angeles. They all have gang graffiti on them. Course, not too many cars here look as nice as that grain car. !!*ok*!!

simply gorgeous, and it's about time we get some of them things, lord know they're all I see on the CN and CP grain trains that roll through here! Well maybe some Potash on the CN but still. It's about time someone got some more paint on these cylindricals! Great work, keep it up.

I was working on same thing but if your doing it i will let you do all the work! can you put the Hatch covers on top like i did, easy to skin but can't seem to figure out the bins files to make em work!
Image I would like to see you layout cause i think mine needs a bit adjustments on top main side hard to tell where to position it?
