SW1200 Repainting

Hi,

Has anyone repainted KCJones SW1200 ?

Several times, following the repainting instructions, the result is always a brillant shiny red locomotive. The .TGA & .ace files had L&N grey and yellow. PSP7 was the paint tool.

Tried one last time with the SW-01.tga file enclosed in the kit. Dropped this on the Shortcut ToAce to generate an SW-01.ace file. This ace file looks like a normal MSTS ace file for a Family Lines SW1200, and not at all like the SW-01.ace file enclosed with the kit. The kit SW-01.ace file has horizontal lines like a grid and the patterns are rolled to the right with the former far right patterns now on the left, as compared to the SW-01.ace generated from Shortcut TOAce on the kit SW-01.tga .

The BluprintEditor was opened and the files exported. The .TgPcDx files were moved to the EMD-Engine-Texture folder. However, the same red loco showed up in RS.

Any suggestions where I 'missed the boat' ?

Thanks,

Mike

Did you reduce the tga file to 1024 x 1024 before converting to ace format?

Dick,

Yes, the .tga was reduced to 1024 x 1024.

I'm puzzled. The kit SW-01.ace has no alpha channel when viewed with TGATool2. The generated SW-01.ace from the kit SW-01.tga has an alpha channel.

Starting with the kit SW-01.ace generates the Family Line skin in RS, so it seems I'm following the procedures OK.

I'll keep trying.

Using TgaTools is misleading as the format is now different to the MSTS type
Ah! What are you using to make the ace file?? TGATools won't do it

Gave her one more try and it worked.

Possibly was loading the wrong engine into RS. I did generate an L&N .bin file per instructions
but loaded the x-SW1200 off the locomotive list. I had not deleted the .xml & x-SW1200.bin files since the instructions stated "may delete" and not must.
If deleted, I would have had only one loco choice for the SW1200. Consider it a senior moment that I forgot about the L&N bin file.

Was always using Shortcut ToAce.exe for the conversions. Just used TGATools to look inside when the reskinning was not working.

One more question: How are engine numbers changed. I did edit the SW1200_numbers.csv file. How does the edit get into the processed file SW1200_numbers.dcsv ?

Now, on to tweaking the new paint job.

Thanks for the quick responses and for making the SW1200 available.

Mike

The SW1200_numbers.dcsv file is generated at the same time as the textures. You will find it in the Graphics\..................................\Engine folder.
