What I use for all of my conversions is a ProjectCalc Classic model 8503. I got mine at Home Depot. I like the fact that it is hand held and you can do your calcs while off line and working in another program.

Works well for me.

Other than creatng the raw sound files and what is said about it in the RS Dev Docs, does anyone have any tips on creating audio for a locomotive? Other than a Nathan five-chime dissonant air horn, I can't get audio to stick. I've even tried aliasing to a default or DLC locomotive, and I got that to work for one session. It disappeared the next time I fired up Railworks.

I'm sure it's a Blueprint, heirarchy, naming or some other mundane something i'm overlooking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only thing I've managed to do so far is to add bogie sounds to my Siphon vans. Sorry I can't be of much help. I hope you'll help me when I get to that part :D

Is it possible to use the trucks from Dick Cowan's RS3 in the planned RS11 model? They seem to be independant units and it would certainly save time.

Not unless he submitted them as downloadable files, not sure if he would do something like that.

The problem about the tutorial and these trucks are they are a completely different style of truck from the ones in the tutorial.

The only way that can happen is if Mr Cowen gives the 3DC files to the community. If I were done with my ARR Type-B trucks I would make them available, but I still have some work left on them.

This is not a problem with the tutorial. You are suppose to figure it out on your own using the techniques that SMM is sharing.

I believe that at some point I will be able to figure it out.

Take a look at how he shapes the primitives, and then duplicates them.

UPDATE: Well, now that i've lit a match and cleared out the brain fart, I realized that the reason my sounds won't alias is because the Big Update Jr. reset everything to default on Test Trak so my American stuff wasn't showing up. Ticking RailSimulatorUS got all my aliasing back. Lesson learned - stay away from aliasing if at all possible.

I'm going to have to hold off on the modeling until I can figure out a way to get 3d crafter pro.
