The song The Railroad by Grand Funk is the one I like the most!

Oh yea.... I had forgot about that one!

EDIT: That just caused me to look up the lyrics to that song; I always thought it went "Workin' on the railroad is a mighty good life", and always thought how much Dad would disagree with that. But, like the often-giggled-about mistaken CCR lyric "...bathroom on the right...", it turns out that wasn't the lyric at all... it's "line", not "life". !DUH! Totally changed my feeling about that song today! !*don-know!*
Btw, I'd bet anything that this is an old work-gang song:

Up each morning at five o'clock,
Seem like the noon-day sun ain't never gonna' stop.
The work is hard in a railroad yard,
Hey, hey, gotta' make it today to punch a time card.
Workin' on the railroad.

CHORUS
Oh, you know, the railroad is a mighty good line,
Come on and ride the railroad, one more time.
Oh, you know, the railroad is a mighty good line,
Come on and ride the railroad, one more time.

Dirt and sweat, runnin' down my back,
Workin' on the railroad.
Work all day long up and down the railroad tracks.
Workin' on the railroad.
I'm a God fearing man, and with many I stand,
Workin' on the railroad.
And with God we've been working, all hand in hand.
Workin' on the railroad.

CHORUS

Oh, you know, the railroad is a mighty good line,
Workin' on the railroad.
Come on and ride the railroad, one more time.
Workin' on the railroad.
Oh, you know, the railroad is a mighty good line,
Come on and ride the railroad, one more time.

A FAV of mine... saw them back when guest bands were warm up bands... they were guests for ZZTop but we called G.F. back for 2 encores; no one was in a hurry for them to leave! Great "...we're gonna have a party..." band! (I used to enjoy playing Shinin' On and Black Licorice on my well-worn '65 Mustang)

I went to a party back in 74 with Mark Farner and Leon Russell, out in California. Nice guys both of them.

I saw the Who in Rotterdam in 75 at a small sand lot baseball field, only about 200 of us were there. I was walking down the street and there were posters on the poles. The next day I had to leave to go to Greece. Great show right in your face.

I saw Steppenwolf and the Amboy Dukes (Ted Nuggent's first band) in a small barn in Fox River Grove, ILL back in about '68. There was about 200 people there too.
Dynamite show! *!greengrin!* I think it costs about 50 cents to get in.

They played that song in that barn. What was so cool was in the middle of that song, the power went out, but the drummer fell right into a solo and played until they got the power back on. They then fell right back into the song. Never missed a lick. Almost as if it were planned.

Saw the Doors at the Chicago Coliseum before most anyone had heard of them and then the Who at the Opera House shortly after they made Tommy. They did the whole thing and the audience stood for the whole set. We saw Steppenwolf there also.

Oh yeah and then there was Jefferson Airplane at the Aragon Ballroom. We all stood for that one also. No one had ever heard of them at the time either.

Long long ago in a Galaxy far far away.
*!!thnx!!* for renewing the memories.

He was working on some Chessies but I think he said in another thread that he decided not to release them. Don't know why because they looked great.

When I knew he wasn't going to release them, I went ahead and made a Chessie repaint for myself:

I've thought about releasing it but I'm hesitant in case Bill decides he wants to release his and it was his idea first.
