RSAdam wrote:Cheers for the confirmation. So the main difference between the M and MAC is the DC/AC traction equipment. Reading up, both came in 4,000Hp versions as well.

Could RSC take their SD70MAC from the Volume2 DLC that came in BNSF colours and make an M UP version? :)

Adam

Please do, and while we're on the subject, could you make a SD70M-2 with the headlights in the low nose? Just take the body from the NS unit and replace the nose with the one from the BNSF SD70ACe?

Both of these would would help immensely on some repaints that I'd like to do.

A SD70M would surely be great if from Trainguy, RSC or my favourite option them both...

I also want to throw in this beast: SD90Mac

SD90Mac-H2

One of EMD's biggest single-engine locomotive ever produced. A giant with it's 6000 hp.
There are generally two versions: SD90Mac with the "old" cab and then with SD90Mac-H/H2 series came the new sharper edged cab.

No , it's not the main or only difference ... for starters an 70M is shorter than 70M-AC

Never heard the H2 designation but you are right that later versions had the Phase II cab. There was also the first run of SD90s which were designated as SD90/43MAC. This is because EMD had not yet finished the 265 prime mover so they instead threw a 4300hp 710 prime mover in and offered to upgrade the locomotives when the 265 was ready. Currently the SD90/43MACs are the only ones in active service since the MAC-Hs proved to be extremely unreliable.

But anyway, the SD90MAC has my vote too if you'd be willing to do it RSC. *!greengrin!*

BTW, Canadian Pacific has them too:

Ah... The 6000hp SD90's. Such garbage. *!lol!*

All the CP units are in storage. Plus they can't run in the US since they don't meet some environmental tier.

UP's are the SD9043MAC with the 4300hp prime mover and meet the tier standard. Seems 6000hp units never caught on. Surprised CSX has held onto their AC6000's and didn't downgrade them to 4400hp.

Anyhoo, back to the SD70M. Really need this model. Quality freeware or payware. Isn't Union Pacific without them. They only have about like 1,400 of them.

There are these with the conventional cabs

Why not the original flared radiator unit - SD-45? It would be a much better choice.

Hello all.

I'm currently working on an SD70MAC in U.P. livery.I will be applying the repaint to the academy SD70MAC because I know most of us have the academy assets.

Please tell me if RSC or someone else is making a repaint of the SD70MAC in U.P. livery so I won't upload it.

Cheers !*salute*!

Why? UP doesn't have flashing ditch lights.
