Question 1: Would you see the end part (the part with the triangle and three bolts) rotate with the wheel?

Question 2: What is this part called so I don't sound less edumacated than I really am?

And yes, I know its a switcher truck, I am using it just as an example. *!greengrin!*

Update: here is a close up

Update again: OK, it appears it is called "Exposed Roller Bearing Journal"

I just call it the Triangle Bolted Thingy. And yes, if your axle and wheels are all one shape with the pivot point in the center (and referred to by the bogie bp), you will see the Triangle Bolted Thingy rotate. I've done this on the RPE slug and it looks pretty cool in motion.

Don't sweat the terminology about stuff. I have gratefuly found that if you call something by the wrong name, there will be someone out there just itching to correct you. :D

How interesting! Too bad I have to budget my polys. I think (after several tries) I have enough detail (then again I am probably way over). Keep the info coming. It helps me understand how it all works and at times helps me model objects differently.

The NCTM had a big pile of those style trucks in a line, I thought of you and got some profile shots. Will upload when I get this crap fixed out with my computer haha.

Can you get me some real good pictures of that Amtrack engine.

Here's what I plan to build shortly.

I hate to ask, but do you have a full side-on shot of the trucks?

Me? Sorry, no... I was really excited and when I saw the trucks I thought "the guys on RWA need profile shots!"

Starting on my SDP40F diesel locomotive.

SDP40F Progress 1.jpg

SDP40F Progress 2.jpg

I chose it because the body is of a rather simpler design, doesn't require hand rails running the length of the body.

By the way, if I'm successful at building this engine it will be donationware, download first free and if you like it leave a donation.
