SD70ACe

Discussion of rolling-stock creation & re-painting.

SD70ACe

Unread postby RSGray » Mon Sep 27, 2010 3:57 am

Hi all,

Firstly I'll introduce myself. I'm one of the art team over at RS.com Towers. I was responsible for the creation of the Dash9 units.
And I am now starting work on the SD70ACe.

In the past, we've found it very useful to keep the community involved right from an early stage, when modelling a locomotive. With that in mind, I'll aim to keep posting with updates on the model, to keep you all up-to-date with the progress.

Feel free to comment on the progress :)

Hey, that looks really great so far.
Looking forward to seeing what it'll look like with a nice paint-job.
Keep up the good work!

Don't mean to sound like a gimmie pig, but will this have a Union Pacific paint scheme, or BNSF?

Gray is a down to earth guy who drinks coffee! Nice to see him developing another U.S. loco!

I agree, he did a great job with the Dash-9.

He also posts more progress updates than Derek. :D

Heres another vote for a CSX paintjob. Will it have a functioning dash like the Dash 9?

Just out of curiosity, what graphics program do you use to create models for Railworks?

Just a flying visit here to drop off a new WIP render. I'll pick up your questions at some point.

Worked on overall shape. Roof and grills have more details.

Good morning/afternoon/evening. It's a typical day in Blighty for us this morning. Overcast with outbreaks of coffee.
And thanks for the comments on here.

The current plan is to go for the UP livery as the leading livery.
As far as the cab goes, we are always grateful for links to more reference on the web. Particularly of the SD70ACe cab.
And in answer to what tools we use, we use 3DSMax as our in-house modelling tool and Photoshop for texture work. These are pretty much industry standard.
Hope that helps.

I'll post another render later :)

Looks very good. Well done details so far. I'm buying for sure. Just a side question, have you seen Pikehkr's dash 9 engine headlights manipulations? Has the RSteam looked into it. ? Will the sd70 have working engine headlights? Anyways, keep doing the work you do so splendid. Great job !
