With all due respect I think something is goofed up in one of your programs. If the file is a dx1 sometimes it doesn't have a alpha channel but that means you need to change the format not something that can't be done.

I've done 3 fresh installs of the programs used along with fresh windows installs and no change. I save using the same DXT format that was exported from RSBin Tool and still lose the Alpha when importing back into RSBin Tool with no DDS modifications just open the file save as and then import and same results every time, no Alpha it always changes to white in the Alpha channel box.

If you would like to send a work file, I'll be glad to take a look.

I too have volunteered. John you only paid attention to my first comment. Perhaps it's the second.

I haven't come across a dx1 yet, they have been DXT5. I'm sure it's something out of place and simple but I haven't found it or gotten it to work correctly. Oh well I took enough of the OP's topic time. If I want to jump into again I'll start a new topic and we can get into it more. Thanks guys.

Info from Google shows many folks in the past having this issue and it came back to Paint.net. I don't use Paint.net but I'm having the exact same issue.

Gentlemen, please...I had no intention of setting off a round of arguments!

I am just wanting to contribute to the community in my small way and have hit a pothole. So I need to learn how/why I'm having this trouble.

While I am not an accomplished repainter, like the greater talents here, I am confident in my understanding and use the the tools.

Harry, Buzz,...I'll send you each a copy of the files I'm working worth and perhaps one of you can show me where I'm going wrong?

Thank you

I'm guessing maybe somewhere in a lonely cold basement is a programmer eagerly working on a point and click the program that will do the conversions for you.The question is, which lifetime will in come out?
