My only problem is that I have my installation of TS Classic set up the way I want it to be set up - I don't particularly want any updates as everything I run, as of up to 10 minutes ago, worked perfectly - absolutely no problems that I couldn't sort out for myself...

I know, there are myriad ways of stopping this pain but giving an option whether or not to participate would be kind of nice...and possibly a bit easier. Steam is now downloading all of the routes that I have decided to mothball (apparently 17GBs worth) and I am going to have to mothball them again, except that any of the listed routes that I do run will have to be merged...
The problem is, I suppose, that my involvement with sims (principally train simulation) goes back way before the advent of Steam, to a time when you generally had to sort out issues yourself, or you spent time online with friends around the world (principally UK and USA) working out what to do and how to improve your simulation life.
