Official! Future status of TSC

You can use a debit card as well. Be advised that as an individual, it is highly doubtful that you will ever be charged to use GoogleMap services because you will never use enough resources. I sincerely doubt that TSC will invest any resources to switch to Open Maps.

Doesn't it work with prepaid credit cards?

I'll say this: I just found a way to view the map with a program. Now I can say that TSC is better.

Hi Buzz !

I am sorry ( or better : glad !!! ) that I was unable to replicate the error that caused distant terrain to be created.
What I saw in December: Black stripes on every tile. These usually occur when you don't remove the scenery.
I had seen these black stripes several times, even though there was no scenery in the route directory. But only in version v79.0a and not in version v79.0a
That's why I think it was just a very crazy cache error.

So the latest version is fine in this respect.

But what DTG really needs to change:
If you drive a little longer (approx. longer than 30-60 min), the wrong DT tiles are loaded.

Cheers,
Kris

I have been following all of the screeching and moaning over on the DTG forum about a myriad of problems and I have to say that I have seen almost none of these. Granted I am strictly a USA and Canada guy but I just don't see this. Kris drops in to post his latest issue and then vanishes again so who knows about that but other than some signalling issues and the irritating headlight glow (which is easy to fix) I'm just not seeing this. If anyone is interested I'll start a thread to specifically address any problems anyone is seeing and we'll see if the community can pitch in and help.

Post from today over on DTG forum:
Hello everyone,

We have an update on the core issue following the release of Train Simulator Classic 2025 at the end of October. See our previous status messaging in November 2025.

Thank you for your extended patience with us as we investigated the issue, which took longer than expected. We apologise for the inconvenience this caused, and we're grateful for the feedback shared from the community to help us resolve the issue.

After testing, updating the game, and working with affected parties, we’re now releasing a patch for the impacted add-ons, and you should see your game update in the next 24 hours.

To confirm, you should no longer experience crashing when loading services/scenarios from the following add-ons:

Stevens Pass
Springfield Line
Smokebox – UP FEF-3, UP4000, UP3900
Just Trains – LNER V2 + LNER Teak, South-West China High Speed, Southwestern Expressways, Common Library, Scenario Tools
Montana Hi Line
ÖBB 1144 & CityShuttle Wiesel
Hbis-tt Wagon Pack
DTG – Class 142 & Long Island Rail Road
Im Köblitzer Bergland Route
Midland Line
Drautalbahn: Klagenfurt - Spittal Millstättersee Route
Lake Constance Scenario Pack

Please keep us informed after you’ve installed this update on your experience, and if you’re still encountering any issues.

The update will download automatically for owners when it becomes available. Players should allow at least 24 hours after restarting Steam for the update to appear and before contacting Customer Support.

My only problem is that I have my installation of TS Classic set up the way I want it to be set up - I don't particularly want any updates as everything I run, as of up to 10 minutes ago, worked perfectly - absolutely no problems that I couldn't sort out for myself...

So now the automatic update, without a real option to opt out if I ever wanted to get any future DLC off Steam. What is the advice..." I would advise that everyone keep current backups before the patch is released and if you have backups prior to the October update protect them." All fine and dandy but the first I became aware that the update was coming was going into the sim...

I know, there are myriad ways of stopping this pain but giving an option whether or not to participate would be kind of nice...and possibly a bit easier. Steam is now downloading all of the routes that I have decided to mothball (apparently 17GBs worth) and I am going to have to mothball them again, except that any of the listed routes that I do run will have to be merged...

The problem is, I suppose, that my involvement with sims (principally train simulation) goes back way before the advent of Steam, to a time when you generally had to sort out issues yourself, or you spent time online with friends around the world (principally UK and USA) working out what to do and how to improve your simulation life. Happy days...in the company of people like Rich Garber, Dick Cowen (Britkits) and the folks over at https://www.elvastower.com/forums/index.php ...

Moan over...only an hour with our "out in the sticks" internet connection till I can discover what is now borked :D
