TS 2021

I have not seen any official word on the yearly update to Train Simulator which normally happens around August to October time frame. Any news?

Short answer is no. The longer answer is - due to the release of TSW2 I imagine all the resources have been concentrated there and little thought will have been given to TS20xx. There is, of course, no guarantee of a TS2021 at all. There has been an annual release but it doesn't mean that there will be and if there is it could be as late as Late November (for the Christmas market). If there is a release will it be a compendium of items already released as has happened before. We all must wait, patiently or otherwise.

I can see that. Even staying with what is provided right now for TS2020 from DGT is fine. The sim actually is perfect for me. TSW is a good sim but many of us who are used the Train Simulator expect the same abilities to modify scenarios and content. Yes there is supposed to be a limited ability with TSW2 but we shall see.

From what I have seen and read, TSW2 will allow for creation of quick drive scenarios but that's all. Apparently there won't be a full blown scenario editor as we've become accustomed to using with TS20xx.

With all the hoopla around TSW2, I would be a little surprised to see TS2021 before late 2020, if we see it at all.

After the bout of instability with Dovetail adding a bunch of stuff that 3rd parties had already figured out and did a better job with in last years update, I'd really rather they didn't update the game further with fluff. If it's something substantial, I'd more than welcome it.

Yes. It would not be a smart idea to put all your eggs in one basket.

Or.. Just rename your "Railworks" folder into something like "Railworks_2020". That'll save you a lot of work. !*salute*!

Just be aware if you do this you will still have to move custom assets and content over or you'll have a nice clean install with none of your goodies.

Will current projects be safe still? I have plenty of exported assets and terrain textures in a route I'm working on. Don't really need to almost lose them a second time.

Do you not know how to do a backup? External SSD is available for under fifty dollars US which makes everything secure from accidental loss. Seems like a small price to pay for all the hours of hard work we put in on projects.
