Kellogg Camp Track Defect

Unread postby gtrtroger » Tue Apr 30, 2019 9:50 am

Just exiting the curve and prior to the first Kellogg Camp Switch, there is a defective track segment causing derailments. I found this using the new “Free Roam Sultan Foresty – RS-1” scenario and i’ve tested it multiple times in the last couple of days. Any attempt to enter the yard at ‘posted’ speed limits will cause a derailment. The RS-1 will make it if you crawl (1-2mph) and the BLE 0-6-0 will at 5-7mph.....but just barely.

Hope this helps

Do you know how to fix this for yourself?

I was just trying to be helpful in case you didn't know how to fix it. No worries.

Thanks for the report!

The first patch is already in the file libary now: viewtopic.php?f=80&t=21229 , so it looks like there will have to be a second patch then. I think we'll wait a little while though before we release it in case something else like this comes up so that we won't need a third patch. *!embar*!

Cheers

Is it possibly just your installation of the route? I had a look at the track (nothing altered by me) then tested as I had previously run the scenario without problems.

In a couple of runs with the RS1 I hit the bend before the yard at an irresponsible 25 mph, and entered the yard at around 27 mph to 30 mph with nothing more than nausea from the excessive rocking and fear about what it would do to my future prospects with the GN :D

There is a slight wobble on the joint between the curve and the last section of track before the first switch.

Tested out of the yard as well with no problem but haven't tried with the BLE 0-6-0.

I have had a derailment on the curve leading to the camp. But not just before the turnout. It happens in the middle of the curve using the Rs1 and a F 7. There is no joint in the middle of the curve. There is however a joint just before the 1st turnout. I broke that joint and welded it. I did make it out of the camp without a derail but have not had an opportunity to see if worked entering the camp.
EDIT: still derails!

Really odd - tried again further out from the camp, both directions through the curve at excessive speed and at track speed - no derailment but there is a lot of wobble and snaking with the log wagons. Are they possibly at fault causing derailment, rather than the track itself?

No rail cars were used. Only a single engine. I have wondered if the track roughness was the problem.
