Northern Replacement

Unread postby ricksan » Tue Nov 13, 2018 10:43 am

Without going into a lot of detail, the original release of the Northern contained references to files in the Cascadian route. These have been resolved and, rather than issue another patch, I've re-built the locomotive package. The new package has been uploaded to RWA, and it's also temporarily available for immediate download at the G-TraX web site. This time the package files are contained in an RWP archive. It's probably a good idea to delete the existing files (Assets\G-TraX\Preservation).

Once again, detail parts that vanish at long distance do so intentionally as a consequence of the LOD scheme.

Thanks for your patience. Now you know why this is freeware!

You do yourself a disservice Rick. There havent been too many payware releases that haven't needed a tweak or two after release; even Mike Rennie's beautiful locos. These things happen. There have been quite a few freeware releases I would have been happy to pay for, as well as the odd one I had that I wished were free *!!wink!!*

Love the update! I think it's just not powerful enough. It is a real pain to try to maintain 50mph even on flat land and the PSI gauge still reads 255. Is there a way I can incorporate the e-1 power upgrades onto the northern? *!!thnx!!*

I maintain high speeds pretty easily I see you're new to the forum, are you new to the simulator? If you are and don't have much experience with the steam engines I suggest doing some of the steam engine tutorials

I've gotten used to regulate a steam loco but for mine even if i regulate it and constantly change the throttle speed, in about 30 miles it starts to slow on flat land.

Assuming you are manually firing keep the fire level between 70-75% and the water 90-95%.
