I have just finished a total rewrite of my Scenario Creation Tutorials to help new TS2013 buyers, all three, about 120 pages combined and over 23,000 words and with detailed screenshots, are available on my site for the usual price of nothing at all. Excellent for anyone that has never been near the editor before. Marleymans Tutorials Download Page This link will take you to an external page

Finally having managed to jump through all the hoops imposed by Marleyman's sign-up and (not) purchase process, I managed to obtain and take a look at his first scenario creation tutorial. Why would an experienced scenario writer like myself (excuse me while I put down my tooting horn) bother with a basic tutorial? Curiosity, more than anything, I suppose -- and the price is right.

I'm not going to thoroughly review this tutorial, but I do want to say that I wish I had had it at hand when I first started to make scenarios. Marleyman's approach is infinitely more detailed and helpful than RSC's rather sketchy "Creators' Manual", which devotes only a few, very simplistic pages to scenarios. There are a couple of minor steps that I disagree with, but following his suggestions will certainly work. This first tutorial deals with making a very simple passenger scenario. The second tutorial available has "passenger operations" in its title, while the third deals with "freight operations". The second doesn't really interest me, but I think I'll take a look at the third.

Thanks, Bob!

Marleyman,

Your tutorials are EXCELLENT !!*ok*!! You've opened up a whole new horizon, beyond the simplistic scenarios that accompany most routes. Yes there is a significant time investment, but the result leads to many satisfying hours in the sim. Also, I have been exposed to the outstanding UK routes that have otherwise taken second place to the USA routes I own.

Wanted to provide some feedback on a comment you made in the Freight tutorial: "NOTE: The refuel instruction does not seem to work on Tyne Yard 31 despite the fact that there is a 'Transfer' point listed in the destinations, and a fuel pump on the siding. I have no idea why that is but I do know the instructions are correct, so follow them and treat this as a TS2013 bug." Well, not quite a bug, but disabling nonetheless for the average user/developer. Turns out the "fueling" object is rotated 180 degrees in the wrong direction--if you look at the fueling points that work, the "hose" points at the transfer point track. Once I rotated the fueling object 180 degress--from the World Editor(Not recommended for the faint-hearted), the fueing instruction worked as specified. *!!thnx!!*
