You really get to test your switching skills with this scenario. Be sure to follow your work order and stop at the correct locations. Most of all, have fun!
Run the RW_AssetSetup.exe file to install the scenario. A list of required rolling stock is included as well as a copy of the Work Order. As always, you may substitute your own rolling stock using utilities such as RW-Tools. I’ve also included a copy of my map files to help you find your way. Remember that the marshall instruction requires that the cars be sorted in the specified order.
The Columbia Valley Pacific is one of my favorite routes. It “feels” like a real railroad and the scenery is beautiful. There is also a good variety of industries to keep operators busy. I’ve chosen 1949 as my era so I can run steam power. The Great Northern and Canadian Pacific railroads have already made the move to diesels for passenger power.
During the early days of settlement and development of the Okanagan region, the lack of roads in the region made the lake a natural corridor for passenger travel and freight. The Canadian Pacific Railway Lake and River Service was the main carrier on the lakes, providing freight and passenger connections between Penticton, on the Kettle Valley Railway and Okanagan Landing (Adams Bay) for connections to the CPR Mainline at Yale Jct. via the Shuswap and Okanagan Railway (later the CVP). Smaller vessels such as the SS Naramata provided passenger service to smaller settlements around the lake, as well as excursions for tourists.
This package is released as freeware. You can do whatever you wish with it EXCEPT make money with its use.
