I used to ride in the cab with the "equipping engineer", who don't work on the mainline, but only drives various locomotives between maintenance facilities, or runs tests after repair.
Montana Hi-Line added very detailed diesel shop, which offers possibilities for such kind of scenario.

You can go inside and outside of the shop (shed), use turntable, fuel pumps (not all are operable).
I wish there would be a load test also

You can load test any of the CP AC4400CW's that strayed their way through Havre.

the one from Searchlight? First i need to upgrade my computer to make it playable. Do they occasionally run on Hi-Line sub? If yes, it's an interesting idea for future scenarios

Yes sir.

BNSF leased 100 AC4400CW units from CP during the crude by rail surge in 2015-2016. These units were primarily used on the northern mainlines, but some units ventured system wide.

And being as Havre is a dedicated GE shop, it would make sense to do so there when inbounding power.
