Running a locomotive round its stock

Unread postby bobcat68 » Thu Aug 23, 2018 1:06 pm

Having created a scenario running into a terminus station I wanted to have the loco uncouple, run round its train, re-couple and head on out of the same station, but I can't see exactly how to do this, if at all.

I think "the loco" is an AI train. These can couple wagons only when they have never been moved before.

Not the best reply I have ever seen because it just does not make sense.

The locomotive is one which I am driving and not AI.

If I am understanding your question correctly, the below (screenshot from scenario editor) applies as an example. Remember, if the train was attached to the "back" of the locomotive originally, your instructions must be to attach the consist to the "front" of the locomotive after the run-around move.

No, the locomotive is at the front of the train.

If the locomotive is at the front of the train, leading nose first, then the train is connected to the back of the locomotive.

After running around the train (assuming you are not wying the loco) then the locomotive would be leading rear first with the train connected to the front of the locomotive.

The example of the instructions that ElphalbaWS posted are correct.

Trouble is, I cannot see how to set up the instructions to do this, which is why I'm asking.

You first have to add a driver to the loco, double click on the driver icon above the loco and mark it as a player loco.
Than click on the timetable icon which now isn't grayed out anymore

Hi mate...

I can feel your frustration. I tried the same thing the other week, and even with instructions of dropping stock at station, getting the loco turned round and adding stock back to the loco, as soon as I tried to recouple, it blew the stock off the track! Instant derailment and scenerio end. It can be done as I have seen it, I just cant work it out either. It has NOTHING to do with AI and adding drivers !*hp*!

I will post here again if I manage to work it out, or at least work out why there is the issue...

!*cheers*!

As a learn-by-doing exercise, and, if you have the B&LE route, then download the “Sn01 Ep01 Yard Work (N. Bessemer)” scenario by RBJets. This scenario contains just about every facing move and run-around exercise you are asking about. Do the scenario first, then, copy it and edit it using the timetable function to see how he did these.

The track you pull into needs to have a crossover after you disconnect from the cars, then you set n instruction to pull up past the switch and stop at a destination or create a destination beyond the switch and stop there then give the instruction to go via the siding beside it. then repeat the process for the other end of the cars and set an instruction at the other end to add cars to the front of the engine. (if you can have them turn the engine on a turntable or wye then add to the rear). hope this helps
